& to be fair, most of the people I work with are awesome & I hate to leave them short a person. People just need to remember that baristas are people too, with their own problems. While there ARE a lot of assholes who've come through my doors, there are customers I absolutely adore, and who brighten my day even when they're having a bad one. If you ever go to Starbucks to get coffee, remember one thing, the baristas are human. If they make a mistake, it's NOT ok to throw it in their face and yell at them. They'll hold it in, but they will be pissed. (as any normal human being would be after getting yelled at.)

It reinforced what I learned when I had worked at McDonald's in high school which is food handlers should make the salaries of professional athletes and actors. I get that we're supposed to take the good with the bad when it comes to customers, but many of them abused that mentality. @kellystone84 We are trained to know it by smell and it becomes important if batches have been prepped. We're also generally supposed to know the undertones of the bean and suggest complementary pastries, but that's ideal. We don't *have* to remember regulars' drinks and have them ready, but we are supposed to strive very hard to because it increases "customer connection" and speeds things up. At my NYC store we got 300-400 people through/half hour during morning rush.
