Also.. DO NOT USE VASELINE on your cube. Take it apart.. sand it with some sandpaper, and spray it with pure silicon (which costs like $3 at any hardware store). Your cube will be beast ;)

The fastest way would be to know when to use each one. If the edge piece that's supposed to go next to the corner piece is already aligned with it, then your 'quicker' variation will put it in it's correct spot. Then you won't need to put it in there later.

If not, it's possible to align both by using the 3 move method.. which in your case at 0:40 would be front clockwise, bottom clockwise, and then front counter clockwise (or F B F' for those who know notation).

you mist alot of cheats and shortcuts try the fridrich method it allows me to do the cube in 10 seconds the whole thing you showed was just the beginer method and for the second layer try F2L huge shortcut ok bro !!!!

1st instead of doing the 1st layer then 2nd layer and ect. just make a small mini cube 2x2x2 anywhere and just expand it on 2 sides

doing it so would be like in the ryan heise method of solving but if you still want to get the 1st and 2nd layer just do the last corner peice with the last edge piece for the 2nd layer, or just use conjugets and commutators, without memrizing any kind of algorithem

yea I'm learning those...using the begginer's method i got 2 min average, but using F2L, two look OLL, and 2 look PLL, my time dropped to 1:15 average. Im going to get my time to drop another 5 seconds or more before i learn the 1 looks.

no vaselene or petroluem jelly use jigaloo or silicone or baby oil. If u use baby oil put a couple of drops then work it in 4 about 30 sec. then wipe it of ur peices it works very good

stop using it now. Buy silicone and spray some in ur cube. You can also try gig-a-lu(may be wrong spelling) it's a silicone based spray. If you use vasiline, you have to clean out your cube many times to relube it. Not with silicone though

A cool thing to do for ppl who dont know how to solve the 3x3x3 (And it works for the 4x4x4) is if you do:

Ri Di R D

then turn it so that the corner that is in the right place is on the bottom left and do:

L D Li Di

then flip it over so that the "solved" side is down, and do:

U R Ui Ri Ui Fi U F

AND THERE! it looks like you solved the whole thing!

To get the cross from the L in one go... Hold the L so that it surrounds the lower-right hand corner. Do the exact same alg you do to go from the line to the cross, except grab the front *two* layers instead of just the front layer. Look up badmephisto's 2Look OLL vid to see it...

& any method where you're holding the cross on top is bound to be slow....it should be in the bottom or sides, yes, even when you're building it...

don't use vasaline mannn.. it'll mess up the inside of ur cube... it'll break the internal mechanisms eventually.. go to like walmart or kmart or home depot... w/e... and buy a can of silicone spray.. u can get it at pretty much any normal store...get it...then open up a side of ur cube... spray it.. and rotate... open again... spray... then after that.. let it all dry... once it dries..it'll be a bit sticky but after about 10 mins of goofing around it'll move lightning fast.. :D hope that helps
