Yeah, she actually came from a family that couldn't afford to pay for daily food. They were too poor. But she entered a beauty contest and won the title of the most beautiful girl (correct me if I'm wrong, but it may have been the national Romanian competition) and ended up in the U.S. as a model. One of her superiors noticed her singing ability and helped her to start recording professionally as well. So that's where she is now in her career. :)
