i have one of these but my problem is that it keeps locking up on me and i have to restart everything , also every now and then when i hit a key some are like supa loud and some are really quiet...is that a battery problem??
Believe it or not. Open unit and while wearing anti-static wrist band attached to chassis re-seat the two socketed chips on the main board. Could be your getting a partial connection on one of the chip legs. The keyboard is ~25 years old. The leads on the chips were tinned with solder. It builds up a coating of lead oxide after a long time. If you reseat chips it has tendency to wipe oxide off allowing correct contact. But do this very carefully as the ESQ 1 is extremely ESD sensitive inside.
Mine had that problem and it was not keeping in memory anything that I would tryied to record in the sequencer or editing patch, etc..... I sent it to a repair shop and they just changed the internal batery..It is working very good right now!..By the way, Does anyone knows where I can find Cartridges for it?..I would love to have more sounds!
I don't know about batteries dying, but when some keybaords can't get enough power the keys stop working (even when u press really hard) and if it has a floppy drive, that won't work either probably, if you plug your keybaord into a thing that, a computer, a amp, a printer, speakers, and everything else is turned on, some keys won't work since it doesn't get enough power.
man if that thing makes good noise consider yourself lucky. Mine's got a dying voice which makes the synth basically useless. It's unfortunate, but at least I don't have to feel too bad about not changing the battery. If anyone has a spare voice chip or broken ESQ1, by the way...
I don't really see what's wrong there. The analogue values move a bit more than I'd expect, but the worst seems to be the battery voltage. If the battery has never been changed, then it's pretty much guaranteed to be flat by now. The lithium batteries only last about ten years, and the newest ESQ1 is at least 15 years old and probably more.
I'm not sure. All I know is that I read a post on the vintage synth forum saying capacitors can get burnt out and might need replacing. I reccomend you go to vintagesynth . com and go to the forum section and ask. You will most likely be able to get some info on how to fix your ESQ. Good luck.
is this have weight keys? like ts-12? so thanks

Mine sometimes does this too...
I think it's just because of the analog components.

I have this problem also with mine. I think it might be the battery.

Is it normal to get dying key issues on this synth when the battery is well dead?
I've got to take mine to get repaired heh.

My ESQ-1 had many similar problems. They are the buggiest synth I've ever used, (and I've got a Mirage!).

Try replacing the internal battery. You may also need to replace some capacitors.

do you mean psu capacitors?

I also sent you a link with a very useful FAQ section just about the ESQ-1. That should also help a lot.
