My STi does this all the time after I floor it and let go. Excess fuel gets burnt off in the downpipe/exhaust.. causing a big bang. Whats so special?

Thats not Anti-lag, When you hear antilag it sounds like about a dozen small explosions going off per second when the throttle is let off.

Thats just a Giant ass backfire from when the turbo gate opens to bypass the air from the turbo allowing the excess fuel to ignite in the exhaust. Depending on many factors he could actually bend a valve crack the turbo and destroy his exhaust.

correct me if im wrong, but thats considered an afterfire, not back fire. Afterfire happens when u let off on the throttle and excess full goes through the cylinders unburnt, then combusts in the exhaust, which is that loud "pop" sound usually heard. My motorcycle does it constantly, usually with flames.

reading some of those comments... A bov prevents compression surge, which does not 'bang' until something breaks. When you lift of the throttle the throttle plate is closed, preventing the intake of air, hence you stop accelerating. When you close the throttle plate the excess air given by the turbo hits the plate and bounces back, this is compression surge, the trouble is when this surge hits parts, aka, the turbo things start to break, a bov, provides an exit point for this surge of air.

Back firing is through the intake valves and after firing is through the exhaust valves/pipes.
