That sucks. I ride a 20 year old steel rocky mountain and from what I've seen with carbon,I less and less wish to have one. Super strong on paper but in the real world gets pierced like paper.
thats why I stick to alluminium. carbonfiber is really strong but side impacts will kill it. no bike company should guarentee this. sadly carbon is not the perfect material. I would break a carbon frame every year with Where I ride. My alluminium frame just gets dented. Surry for your missfortune
Nice bike but this really sucks, did cannondale replace the frame for you or did you have to replace it for $750? I've got the RZ120-1, aluminium frame though, really nice bike and sad to see something like this :(
i dont get it, while most carbon frame makers, claiming their design, process and materials including the proprietary techniques they used were very stiff, strong and lightweight and so on..
while an accident like these, just a piece of wood can penetrate a Flashy Hi-tech hyper expensive bike..
what happen now to your R&D? this is a real world riding...
Before excuse for my poor english. I'm from south of france.
I was ridding with my new rize 3 mounth old, on a down single track, pehaps 30 km/h, there was a piece of tree on the floor approx. 40cm long and 7cm diametre, how it was on the middle of the single, can't escape it. After the front weel passed, i felt an impact on my bike and the piece of wood passed betwen the fork and the tire whats nearly stop me. after stopping the horror view.
in my opinion you get what you pay for, cannondale is just a name, that accounts for 90% of the value,

@elPedro666 doubt it. depends on the wall thickness and the alloy type. Best bet is still good olde steel ...

@Gromitdog1 By reapplying new layers of carbon! If search for it, you'll find other cases of broken carbon frames that were repaired.

@s4ks4k The warranty doesn't work if you crash in a tree...

Oh putain !
Bon ride !

c6h6x you must explain how this happened. It is possible that you had this in your bike rack on your car and backed into a tree. Please some details.
