  • Subbed. Like it. Check out the Kent & North Wales Light Railway. No coal-firing either - we steam indoors ..... and the insurance people are strangely reluctant to indulge us ...

  • Nice vid. Did you scratchbuild that Westside logging caboose? In response to your other commenters, I own Accucraft 3 cylinder shay and it is excellent and every year at the National summer Steam-up in Sacramento we have a "Shay-Up" where approx 15-25 shays all run linked up at the same time. Of course the SRRL #24 is an excellent runner and so easy to operate, but the price now I hear is about $4000. Glad I like you bought mine over 10 years ago and it still runs great

  • @bobrstrong1 Yes the caboose is scratchbuilt, not a true scale model as built from photographs, but looks the part and much cheaper than accucraft!

  • good vid ... are you sure it is 10 years old... as they only added the red roof and grey smokebox less than 5 years ago before it was all black ... nice track by the way would look better with my john shawe coal fired SR&RL 24 !!

  • Sure is - it started off all black, smokebox and roof had been hand painted when I bought it, now nicely sprayed! Coal firing would be nice, but it'd finish my back on a ground level track!

  • very nice. Big logs

  • WOW!!!i would give my penis for this!!!

  • That would be one expensive loco!

  • very nice layout

  • many thanks!

  • No worries

  • Looks great! Nice job!

  • Great! I think I'll be adding some live steam this summer. I will start with the aristo craft pacific I think?

    Any sugestions?

    Thanks

    Richie

  • I have no experience of the Aristocraft live steamer, but I believe they are very easy to use if you get a good one. Personally, I cannot fault Roundhouse Engineering (but if you have even minor gradients you will need radio control). For ease of use you couldn't get better than an Accucraft Shay, but there are sometimes quality issues. Go for it and enjoy!
