  • @roofy2k You can LUAW an aircraft once the plane is at the landing threshold, the plane on the ground is aware of the aircraft about to land its legal, you just cant luaw a plane behind a heavy on the same runway.

  • The position and hold instruction was perfectly ok. He was already at the threshold and wants the plane on the runway as soon as possible so when the 150 is clear they can send the citation up. Absolutely nothing wrong with that and, in fact, is a good call to keep things moving smoothly.

  • Great landing!

  • Very nice!!

  • Very nice landing i live in the hampton roads area love that airport and its small and has very well trained pilots and atc

  • YEAP position and hold as you was about to cross the thresshold,

atc controller must go back to remedial training,as they had sent me in my past

  • @stealhty1 --Actually it is called anticipated separation. I believe it was a citation which takes a second or two to spool up and get the plane moving. Perfectly legal, perfectly safe (happens 1000x per day). There was no issue with the instructions.

  • show off landing, (smooth as silk)! Nice job!!!! happy landings.

  • Awesome video! Amazing sound! Excellent flying! Well done! Excellent job! Rated 5/5 stars for your amazing job! Please sub back!

  • Yea...he definitely did say that when I was right over threshold. It baffled me for a bit.

  • @pilotboy17

Although you dont need much wake seperation from a C150, this isn't the best ATC call I've heard.... thats when you find out who your friends are lol.

  • I love night flying

  • nice landing

  • nice landing

  • Sounds like that 150 could use a new nose wheel shimmy dampener... :)

  • Thanks for taking us on your little plane ride to the runway :)

  • My favorite part about this video is around 1-1:40 right before you flare and the ALS is reflected on your cowling. I just can't tell you how much I love that.

  • Just for a heads up, Norfolk is ORF, not KORF

  • You, sir, are half correct. Being a flight instructor, I would hope I knew something about this.

The ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) 4-letter airport identifier codes uniquely identify individual airports worldwide.

Usually, the first two letters of ICAO codes identify the country. In the continental USA, however, codes normally consist of a 'K' followed by the airport's IATA code.

  • well thank, guess you learn something new everyday. At first I thought you might be thinking of an LA radio station. Hey, nice landing by the way.

  • Thanks! Lol...Yea, it does sound like a radio station, doesn't it?

  • my wife flys between ORF and EWR every week just about but this weekend I will be driving to NJ.

  • i think both the rotating beacon and the windsock gives the airport it caricature

  • @pilotboy17 Right on. All US airports have FAA IDs, not all of them have ICAO IDs. For those with ICAO IDs as well, sometimes the FAA IDs don't largely correspond with ICAO IDs, sometimes they do. And there's a lot of airports that don't have ICAO codes at all, just FAA. And for those who don't know: Alaska and Hawaii airports have ICAO codes that begin with P, not K. Good call, pilotboy!

  • nice landing:)

  • Nice and smooth. I hate it when nosewheels do that little vibration.

  • HA...Typical C-150 Nosewheel shimmy!!! Love it! Nice when it doesn't happen in a while... then that ONE time, all hell breaks loose!

  • Keep on keepin' on, man. I don't know what your goals are in aviation, but savor every second of this- you WILL look back on them one way or another and have a giggle. I'm based in SBY as a Dash skipper for Piedmont.

It's been 15 years since I soloed. It NEVER gets old! :)

  • Hey, thanks man! I currently hold my CFI and CFII for single engine and half my multi (although not current with it anymore). I am an officer in the Coast Guard and trying to get into flight school. Hopefully I will be blessed. I have some instructors who taught me from Bayland Aviation who all went to work for Piedmont.

  • That was already discussed in previous comments...but they are lamps in ground with hard covers over them.

  • nice shimmy dampener haha

  • November87Gulf next taxiway taxi right and have a nice day? Did you ever turn onto the correct taxiway?lol....It's hard to tell if you past the taxiway from the video....Nice landing too! Bled off all your speed before setting it down.

  • Yes, I am pretty sure I did. I'm not that incompetent. I just went a little slow because I was unfamiliar with the airport and was looking for the taxiway.

  • I was just pulling your leg, you did a nice job especially for a night landing and that was smart to taxi slowly!!!Fly safe always...."There are old pilots and bold pilots, there are no old bold pilots"

  • haha thanks. I totally feel like an idiot b/c I missed the sarcasm!

  • is this u flying man? nice work!! =)

  • Yep, it is me.

  • cool video man, I can't wait to fly at night, haven't done it yet, don't even have my private license yet.

  • ya but when u land u touch them nd they should break, as if u got a lamp and u stapped on it..

  • no, they are literally built into the ground, with an incredibly hard cover over them. they don't have lines of little lamp light bulbs along a runway :P

  • how u dont brake the landing lights although u landed on them?

  • Do you mean the centerline lights??? They can't break...they are in the ground..

  • there under the runway

  • i know some1 who works on the cessna planes

  • Yes very good landing.....I must say!

  • Wow. I am flattered. Thank yoU!

  • That's anticipated seperation for you ! :)

  • nice landing! do u fly passenger airplanes now

  • Hey, don't worry about the night-vision, it actually enhanced it. You did great! That looked just like my night-landings on FS2004; The only bad part is that when in Virtual Cockpit mode, I can't see the cowling like you can on your Cessna. From a chairborne guy to an airborne guy: Props! (Pun intended)

  • Hey thanks! Have you ever tried to go airborne??? Flight sim definitely help withs transitioning to the real thing. I played Flight Sim 98, 2000, 2002 while in high school. I still buy them.

This video is pretty old. I now have my CFI, CFII, and multi-engine rating.

  • I grew up flying with my dad and was going for my license at 14, but that was kayoed when my mom was hurt. Once on my own I nevfer had the cash; The cash thing got worse when I got married (LOL!), but the worst was I started having seizures at 21 and they developed into rheumatoid arthritis. I won't pass a physical, but occasionally I fly with friends and fly commercially. The passion never dies. :-) And congrats on your ratings!

  • I'm the same, I used to use flight simulator religiously, when I started to learn to fly I learnt how to control the aeroplane because that aspect is completley different, but all the radios, and instrument flying is so much easier after using flight simulator. I think a lot more pilots should use it from time to time, to practice emergencys etc, because it is invaluable for emergency training.... lol

  • Not to mention perfecting cockpit routine.

  • ... At the airport I learn to fly at, which is a medium sized international airport 2 light aircraft have gone down in the sea for the same reason, not enough fuel and on arrival horrendous weather, the pilots could not perform an ILS approach and when being vectored in to land they lost communication over the sea and went down. ILS approaches will be different in real life, but just being able to do them in flight simulator will mean you are able to do one in an emergency in real life.

  • if you press shift+enter on flight sim it will bring u the cowling. Do that a couple of times until you get the right amount.

  • Watch this video: Cessna 150 Cross-country

  • How much cost training to cesscna, and how meny practice hours do I need ?

    Thanks !

  • Go to your local FBO.

  • By that I mean Fixed Base Operator. It is a place that usually provides flight training and rental of aircraft, in addition to fuel servicing, lounges, restrooms, flight planning rooms, etc.

  • I did a few Cessna landing vids some in the USA and some in the UK.Your vids are cool.

  • Autofocus, dark nights and bright lights don't mix very well, but hey, excellent landing

  • looks like a fun little x-wind there on the approach. Landing wasn't that bad though and I swear all 150's are plagued with the nose-wheel shimmy, the one I train in is has it too lol

  • hey, do you fly to KMTN alot? very nice video

  • I am not familiar with that airport. Which airport is KMTN?

  • Martin State - Baltimore, MD

  • Oh ok. Yea I know the airport, just wasn't too familiar with the identifier. I have never been there only because I heard the ATC guys hate us slow movers there, so I never really made an attempt to land there.

  • Exelent Landing :)

    Exelente aterrizaje amigo mio

  • very nice Landing dude,,,keep it up,,

  • Hahaha that wasn't too bad of a shimmy. On the 152 I fly if you let the nose down it will shimmy so bad that the panel rattles to the point that the gauges look like they will fall out. Ahh!

  • cool vid

  • nice one. that nosewheel would get on my nerves too.

see my c152 vid. blackpool uk.

  • You shouldn't be nervous. You should change the anti-shimmy pneumatic in front wheel.

  • Glad you liked it! Only if Salisbury was like that now. The only military aircraft I've seen are some Navy guys (prob from Patuxent) in a Seahawk helo and a King Air trainer. My friends tell me a C-130 comes occasionally for blackout landings.

  • i used to LOVE Beech Aircraft UNTIL raytheon ruined it. I sold my Duke and bought a cessna 180 & could not have been happier.

  • Lol. it's FBO owned.

  • outstanding video... me and the wife are flying to ORF on Friday... never been so your vid was special.. many thanks....

  • Does the 152 nose wheel always come down so quickly? I fly 172s and you can always keep the nosegear off for quite a while.

  • Nice Video. Made me miss flying.

  • Nice video! On other night flight videos on youtube you can't see much worthwhile but that was nice out the cockpit view. Would be nice to see the instruments next time too.

  • I was the only one in the plane so I couldn't really put the camera anywhere else except on the dash.

  • my night landings seem to be better than my day landings! I think every 150 and 152 I've ever flown has had a nose wheel shimmy. Nice stable approach!

  • Yeah, same with me on the nose wheel shimmy with every 150/152. It's an old airplane, but it'll get you through your training!

  • I trained in The 152's. Seems the nose wheels on most of htem alwaya made some sort of noise or shimmied.. I trains out of kisp (NY's Islip Mcarthur)

  • Cool. I always wanted to fly up there. Haven't got to yet.

  • Ever notice how nice landings are at night sometimes?... try the same technique during the day. ;)

  • very fucking cool ... very fucking scary.

    worldpeace,

    ben

  • nice nite landing... often they're a bit rough because of depth-perception problems. I used to instruct many students in C-150's and C-152's. Good job.

  • Thank you. Yes I felt like I was actually higher than I was because I don't fly much at night. This was when I was doing my commercial training. I am now almost done with my CFI training. Can't wait to finish this up!

  • I fly out of JGG and PHF so that's familiar territory! Nice job!

  • I learned to fly at CPK and ORF years ago. I miss that area.

  • Nice landing! My landings still suck durring the day!

  • nice job from another 150 pilot!
