@gyromike1966 Hi GyroMike! Great video. I'm curious. What is the "range" of your gyro? Can an auto-gyro travel across country? Say from Colorado to Texas for example. What do you think?
Noticed no shoulder harnesses. From the pilot POV, it's plain to see you are "out there on the edge of space" not much comes between yourself and the atmosphere around you. Does the engine exhaust assist with yaw control by impinging on the rudder?
I LOVE IT!!! I'm going to fly one of these some day...as soon as I get to working more steadily and get caught up! I have always wanted to fly one of these because it seems the most free and open way to fly.
Did you know that when those engines were flying as drone powerplants that the fuel/oil mix was something crazy like 5:1? I think I still have a KD2R manual around, I'll have to look.
Dude, you are having to much fun. I want to get into this fun hobby but don't know which way to go or how to decide the good ones from the bad. I envy the heck out of you. You sitting up in the sky is FREEEEDOOOMMM! You have great camera work as well. Could you give me some tips on which gyrocrafts to stay away from and which ones to move toward? Looking forward to your response! Man I got a high just watching your video! awesome stuff!
I don't comment often but this video was just wonderful. Being a fixed wing pilot myself doesn't compare to the rush you seen to get. I've always been interested in Gyros and man this gets the wheels turning. Thanks
to fly a gyro, you need training, with training and being signed off after x amount of hours, eg 17 to 20 hours your lieence comes with a few endorsments picked up along the way, the amount of power dosnt change enything,
Yep, if it weighs 256 lbs or less and cruises at 63 mph or slower, it's considered a ultralight and requires no license. Anything more and a sport license is required with not 17, but 20 hours minimun to be certified.
The best thing the FAA ever did was introduce the sport class.
That lead looks like the radio lead from the helmet, I could be wrong though, I have been wrong before and if you listen to my wife, I'm wrong all the time.
Really great short film, it's just so coool :) I tryed to do a similar flying ultralights, a bit longer and less exciting, but take a look at mine as well :) Keep on flying, soft landings! Gary from Hungary
Great! love it ! :-)

Nice video, I like the multiple camera shots- are they "hand held" shots?
zenroadie001 1 year ago
are these pretty maneuverable? Like steeper turns and quick drops and such, at least compared to an ultralight?
