The problem is that in previous races, there were many big states still going (including California in both of the examples she chose) in June. This year, California voted in February. In June this year, there are 2(?) states left to vote, and Peurto Rico (which doen't vote at all during the general election) As of now, it is a near mathematical impossibility for her to win the nomination, unless something bad happens to Obama. For her to bring up RFK is just tacky and in poor taste.
I *hope* she didn't bring it up for a nefarious reason, but the fact that she has been bringing up that horrible moment in America's history since early march does shed a slightly different light on it. i went to an obama rally and there were metal detector gates, 100's of police and double that number of private security. cops on the rooftops, police every 20 feet in the parking lot, everyone running on high octane coffee...
i tried to get an interview with him and that was soooo not going to happen.

President Clinton and Bush both came to my town on different occasions. You should see the Secret Service detail and law enforcement attention that these guys are given.
Obama has his own Secret Service officers, he's had them for awhile. McCain never had any during his whole time in the Senate until recently. (He believed it was an unnecessary expense)

please allow me to explain this to you guys. In June 1968 RFK was one of the democratic candidates running in the primary and he was assassinated.
Clinton's comment was pointing out hey RFK was still in the primary race in JUNE and you guys want me to drop out now? It had nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with the point that RFK was still in the race in June and was still very much determined to get his parties nomination and remained in that determination even up until his death.

No, Victor, you really hit the mark closer on these issues then many Americans. As each day passes I have a feeling we will see a Republican in office again. It's not because either Democratic candidates are unqualified. I would be pleased with either (Indecision '08). We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

The problem is that in previous races, there were many big states still going (including California in both of the examples she chose) in June. This year, California voted in February. In June this year, there are 2(?) states left to vote, and Peurto Rico (which doen't vote at all during the general election) As of now, it is a near mathematical impossibility for her to win the nomination, unless something bad happens to Obama. For her to bring up RFK is just tacky and in poor taste.

My uncle and dad are pretty racist (Missouri farm boys), and they are both voting for Obama.
He has an appeal that seems to overcome bigotry in at least some cases.
The whole assassination thing is overrated in my opinion. The Secret Service are much more competent than they were during the Kennedy and Reagan administrations.
It's still a possibility, but not voting for someone because they might be assassinated is pretty lame.
