I understand these swords are for display only buy in the description it says they are sharp of sort. What's the point in having a sharp display sword? I'm guessing when novices see the words "sword" "katana" "sharp" and "low price" they automatically think "omg wow I NEED one of those, I'm sold"
This is a very cheap Korean reproduction of a Japanese katana, very poorly done if you have something like this at home please only use it for decoration as it is not built or designed to be used in any manor, very dangerous because it is so cheaply manufactured.
Hopefully your house never gets broken into and that's the only thing you have to protect your family with, you'd be better off with a cheap wooden dowel from the hardware store.
HA i own this sword, or really i own the full set (tanto, katana, and wakasashi) and i must they have actually have never failed me yet after using it for katas for about 8 years. wouldnt cut anything with it though. oh and if you dont believe me, look at my kata video on my page. im using the wakasashi in that video
its fake i dont get the reason for making cheap wothless katana like that if u want somthin to look at get one that u can use so wen u show it off to somone who knows a sword they will be impressed thats shit i pray to god whoever gets that does not try to use it
@MRBURGERASSASSIN actually it really isnt, unless you have horrible edge alignment. This is a katana shaped object, looks cool for display but its not a functional weapon.
such horrible fake hamon :( and it doesnt even go to the boshi. the tsuba looks like plastic and the tsuka looks like shit. if you paid more than $50 dollars for this, i'm ashamed of you.
@lucky7z There actually are stainless steel alloys which are capable of being heated treated and forged into fully functional, battle ready swords of similar, if not superior quality than many "high carbon" steel swords (though the high quality stainless steels also have very large high carbon contents). That being said, never and I mean never buy 440 or gosh forbid 420 stainless steel. These metals will break at lengths over 12 inches and constitute 99% of all commercial stainless steel swords.
@Tneisnart You're wrong about one thing... Stainless steel swords will actually break at lengths closer to 5 or 6 inches on a full tang blade because the vibrations in the blade will be more active at a lower point in the blade. But what you should really be looking for is a 9260 blade. There's actually a decent amount of silicon in 9260 spring steel, which makes it incredibly durable and, even if not able to hold an edge for very long, at least never going to break catastrophically.
@ChaosScourge777@ChaosScourge777 Well, yes, you are correct, a strong sturdy stainless steel blade for actual use should be about 5-7 inches. You can still cut light targets (Individual water bottles, perhaps a small pool noodle) with a 12-15 inch stainless steel blade but nothing more. Beyond that, usage of 440 or 420 stainless steel blade is not recommended at all. As for 9260 spring steel, I agree its is an amazing steel, not the best, but very good quality for the price, I after all own one
@ChaosScourge777 Which is a shobu-Zukuri "ayame" from cheness. Now that being said, 9260 spring steel can in fact hold a a surgically sharp and and long lasting edge if it is of course differentially hardened. However, the trade off is that that makes the edge more prone to setting and chipping if cut incorrectly.
@lucky7z no it wouldnt fly out, trust me the tang is much stronger then it appears, besides, inside the hily of the blade, is actually part of the blade
Zebra hasn't logged on in over two years. Chances of find the song are slim. I can ask my brother to use his iPhone's music search application. I'll get back to you on that.
lol my cousin got this in a three peice set and it was the worst sword i've seen. it fell apart on him and i swear the rat tail tang was about 3/8 of an inch.
two words.........HOLYYYYYYYYY.......................SHITTTTTTTTTTTT..............i could of bought a car for the kind of money you paid for that badass sword
This is just a show katana, its not an actual katana, if you would try to use it like a real one it would probably break off and kill someone because of the cheep "stanless steel".
@AlongTheHorizonLine actually stainless steel is too brittle for a practical katana. It is a lot more likely to break when test cutting than a sword made of a superior steel.
@RajDrummer1 I've seen many videos of stainless steel cutting just fine as long as it's razor sharp. Otherwise you're right but it's almost impossible to find a real forged Katana unless you have like $3000 xD
@mickkidoTV "unless ur in JSA or kendo... dnt talk like u knw about katana..." This was your original comment. My problem with it is that you are claiming that if you do kendo then you are an expert with a katana when that is false. In kendo you use a shinai, which is made from straight split bamboo, it doest have the weight of a katana, so kendo expert couldn't possibly be an expert with a katana unless he did some other koryu japanese martial art.
@RajDrummer1 Carrying on as i ran out of space. I know you can't hit people swords. I wasn't slagging off kendo. You misunderstood my statement is all (which i have hopefully explained to you in the previous comment.

Stainless steel = cheap and easy to break. Don't buy a stainless steel sword if you plan to use it for anything other than hanging it on the wall to look at. They are brittle and they break !
i orderd it knowing it would probly being a deceration sword to hang on my wall but is it true that if the blade goes through the handle its real?
