Before Hurricane Katrina there was fierce competition...Fortier, Kennedy, John Mc, Reed, Carver, Walker, St. Aug...MCD 35 was no where in the picture..I am an old band head..I remember how all of these bands put more effort and had heart for their band..now it seems like they don't care anymore...

i pray to God these aren't college bands.......cuz all these bands suck........all Dekalb County Bands in Atlanta sound way better and they are high schools( Stephenson, MLK, Southwest Dekalb, Redan, and sometimes Miller Grove

these bands have only been back for under 3 years since katrina ..and with all with new band directors and many students who have had no prior experience in band. .. The Middle Schools are coming back tho so The Rebuilding Process is underway

Yo but don't knock the New Orleans bands though you can hear in a couple of years(2 or 3) they'll be back to what they use to be. & I'm from a band in Dekalb County & like Book said they are still in that rebuilding stage. All they have to do is get back to the days when they music in the bandrooms. Technique/ the fundamentals comes first then the volume.

I am a junior music ed major at SU in B.R. Here is my critique of what I see here by each band.

#1 Warren Easton- Big numbers so yall need more volume...but before ya'll get louder LEARN THE NOTES AND ENUNCIATE WHEN YALL PLAY YALL HAVE LOTS OF POTENTIAL AND IT NEEDS TO BE UNLEASHED.

#2 EDNA KARR MAGNET- DECENT SOUND AND BALANCE CLEAN IT UP A BIT.

#3 O.PERRY WALKER-SOUND IS OK. 2 PROBS.. I NEED MORE BASS I SEE AT LEAST 5-6 TUBAS AND I ONLY HEAR 2 AND SLOW THAT VICE/VERSA DOWN IT SOUNDS BETTER.
