@TheIntolerantAtheist I really haven't the slightest idea what eye care has to do with this conversation. Science is not liberal propaganda. Neither is US or world history. Neither is English Literature unless the ones teaching the above subject have an agenda and manipulate instruction and even text books to reflect their agenda. Some would say teaching evolution is crossing a boundary where it conflicts with their religious views, evolution a theory and not conclusively proven fact.
@TheIntolerantAtheist How certain is science? Weren't some of the greatest scientific minds on earth at one time convinced that the earth was flat? What makes you so certain that Neil deGrasse Tyson is any more of a source of logic and reason than Billy Graham? I don't personally understand why there is the notion that all scientists and all theologians have to be at odds with one another. There are to many egotists and arrogant fools in both fields in my view.
@TheIntolerantAtheist Based on what I can gather reading your comments you do not sound like you are 100% certain that there is no God or that the Jewdeau Christian Bible is a hoax. You seem kinda sure but not entirely sure. This leads me to believe you have chosen a lifestyle that you know is not acceptable in the eyes of God and are perfectly content to do so while you are just trying to convince yourself you may not burn in hell for the choices you've made. You had better hope your right.
@TheIntolerantAtheist True but as far as we know there is no certain ramifications for your denial of the "magic teapot orbiting Jupiter". When you say there may or may not have ever been a man named Jesus Christ and then claim that there is no evidence that Jesus hated homosexuals it seems to me that your not entirely certain that there are no ramifications for denial of Christ or for a homosexual life style. Perhaps you should be certain before you continue to offend God without regard?
@TheIntolerantAtheist Faith is is believing in or refusing to believe in something that can not be proven or disproven without certainty. The Jewdeau Christian God wants faith from His followers. He gave us free will to deny or accept Him, to obey or disobey Him as well. That's a choice we all have to make for ourselves and we are all equally free to make our choice. I can't prove to you or anyone that God exists or that the Jewdeau Christian Bible is 100% true. But I know with certainty it is.
@TheIntolerantAtheist There are guys who masterbate to their vehicles. There are people who find animals sexually stimulating. There are people who find their own siblings sexually appealing as well. By your logic all of the above are perfectly normal and there is nothing abnormal to these nuts either. Jesus does not hate homosexuals nore should His followers. But in both the Old Testement and New homosexuality is unacceptable and is a sin in the eyes of God. That's between you and God not me.
@TheIntolerantAtheist Your right, what goes on between two adults behind closed doors is none of my business. But don't try and tell me I have to accept what these people do as normal and treat them as equals. Don't force your life style down my throat and try to teach kids in school that there is nothing wrong with what your doing. Don't try and convince me that there is nothing wrong with what your doing when I know better. So is incest amongst acceptable for people over 18 years old?
@BradNC11175 He's engaged the services of an attorney. He was told that he should sue his brain for non support. Unfortunately, his attorney would not take the case on contingency, because said brain has no assets.
@TheIntolerantAtheist Aww that's ok, Jesus loves you even if your to dumb to know it. I forgive you my child and will pray that your sins don't lead you to an eternity in Hell. Clearly the dark forces have gotten ahold of you and made you the foolish little imp you have become. I feel pitty for you and wish you well my foolish little friend. As I said, Jesus loves you.
@TheIntolerantAtheist "whome"? I guess you mean who or whom, but if so, you should brush up on the use of object pronouns.
Alaska is pretty big. You shouldn't be having trouble finding it on a map. Are you sure you're not just looking at a road map of where you live? That's not going to work.
If you want to believe Africa is a country, go ahead. That's far less a mistake than believing there is no God.
What is a "right winger"? How many have you polled? What was your control group?
@TheIntolerantAtheist My, you have a flair for the dramatic! And so proficient at "straw man" arguments to boot! Beats making a point of any substance, I suppose.
Deficiencies in government schools are caused by teachers indoctrinated in Secular Humanism who avoid basic knowledge in favor of social tinkering nonsense.
The funny thing about this is if Jesse Helms could see all the hatefull bull shit the liberals say about him he would have a huge grin on his face and would laugh. So, keep it up, ya aint hurting anyone including Jesse Helms by telling lies. The man hated liberalism and socialism and spent his entire career fighting it. As someone who was one of his constituents I am proud that he was my representative.
PipeFriendCHS: I am sure they did. I am sure many liberal idiots feel the same about Red Ted Kennedy too. But whats interesting is that Hitler was a Socialist, much like Red Ted Kennedy was. I wonder if Jesse Helms is kicking Ted's ass in the after life like he did all these years down here? lol
@BradNC11175 Somehow I doubt Sen. Helms went to the same destination as the old whoremaster (Kennedy).
Making stands for righteousness and fiscal sanity were amongst his hallmarks. That he angered legions of libtards and frustrated their push to move to a centrally controlled state elevated him far above them.
@MrStrictlyStock Oh Lord no, I wager that whore monger Red Ted Kennedy is rotting in the infernal regions where he belongs. Red Ted was a scum sucking degenerate piece of trash and low life. Lowly little libtard scumbags dispise Helms for his stand against collectivism and their degenerate queer friends. How a fag can believe anyone with a shred of decency or common sense would take them seriously is beyond me. Helms recognized what filthy vermin the queers are and Red Ted championed the scum.
he billed himself as a states rights advocate, which is just BS. real states rights advocates are not racist at all. they simply want to give power back to the individual states and not have the federal govt make so many laws. they believe things like gun control, abortion, and tobacco laws should be decided by the states and not the Fed. But they are not racist
U can celebrate with another good smoke very soon when Ted Kennedy and Senator Robert Bird die. Ted was responsible for the death of his pregnant mistress, and Bird was a real life Klansman who still tossed the N word around. I can't think of any Conservatives who have been murderers or Klansmen.
I am not familiar with Robert Bird, but I have heard the stories of Kennedy's mistress. That is heinous! However, Kennedy's policies may be too liberal for many people's tastes, but he doesn't infuse his policies with the kind of blind hatred that Jesse did. He doesn't hate jews, blacks, hispanics, atheists, women, gays, lesbians, foreigners and feminists.
Senator Byrd has changed a lot in the intervening years. His time in the Klan was brief, and if I am the standard by which you judge, two lifetimes ago.
I think that his steadfast opposition to the Iraq war will ultimately define his legacy.

Thanks for your comment. I respectfully disagree though: Washington had great views on liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Helms was more focused on taking liberty and the pursuit of happiness away from people with a different skin color/religion/gender or lifestyle. United we stand and divided we fall: This core American belief made this nation great and it is about loving your feelow Americans, regardless of skin color, gender, religion and lifestyle.
Let me give it a try - Maybe Jessee Helms actually had values and stood up for what he beleived in (even if you disagree with some of his policies). He did a lot of great things for this country (esp. for the military)! He attacked liberalism head-on!He was anti-big govt, anti-entitlements, anti-communism, and (most importantly) PRO-AMERICAN! The liberal wackos that criticize that South should live down here for a little while. You might start to understand why we feel the way we do politically.
I moved from Europe to the South and LOVE it. I disagree with your statement that he was pro-american. How can you be pro-american if you dislike black, hispanic, jewish, gay, lesbian and women?
The modern liberal has distorted the meaning as compared to what you refer to as John Locke's philosophy. Modern Liberals are much closer to Marxism! Big Govt, distributed income, entitlements, high taxes, minimize religion, and control the media. Unfortunately, for you all, that died in the 1950's. Gov't should be minimized and one should take resposibility for his own actions. And, Govt is NOT GOD and should not take place of the father in black homes! Keep taxes low! VOTE CONSERVATIVE!
You are delusional if you think that the GOP exemplifies the philosophy of Locke.
What is taught in American schools is rote memorization. Most students of our public schools are unable to analyze information and apply critical thought, reason, and logic. This is why people like gumbostro here can take personal offense at contemporary Leftist policies, as they are antithetical to those under which our republic was founded, but fail to recognize the same being done by the neocons in the GOP.
Im a conversative and Helms is disgusting in his of race relations. Helms was the last old style Southern politicans around thank god. Polarization helms style is turnoff now days with the world being 100 times more complex.
Thanks for your comment Gizmosells. It is encouraging to see conservatives express their concerns with his view points as well. I very much agree with your statement on how things have gotten more complex
Helms was "bitterly opposed to federal financing of AIDS research and treatment". Of the Kennedy-Hatch AIDS bill in 1988, Helms stated, "There is not one single case of AIDS in this country that cannot be traced in origin to sodomy." When 18-year-old Ryan White died 1990 (contracting AIDS through transfusions) his mother went to Congress to speak on behalf of people with AIDS. She spoke to 23 representatives: Helms refused to speak to her even when she was alone with him in an elevator.
News Flash: Jesse Helms said hell wasn't all the bad after spending his first 24 hours with welcoming committee chairman, Ronald Reagan. Helms will share a 4'x4' cell with long time friends, Jerry Falwell and Strom Thurmond. Jerry, now turned interior designer, decorates the cramped quarters with drawings of Pat Robertson made from his on feces.
I think Robin Williams put it best with - "Jesse Helms says that the Confederate flag is just a symbol of state's rights. Yeah, and the swastika is just a Tibetan good luck charm."
That is a beautiful pipe, I love the shape! What is it?
I don't believe in concepts like heaven or hell, but it is obvious that Jesse didn't display christian values at all and thus he would go to hell (if you believe in that concept)
What happened in his life to make him such a "harsh" person? He grew up in the south among conservative evangelical Christians. Remember, in the Bible, Christ talks about helping fellow man, helping the poor and not judging your fellow man over 3,000 times. He never mentions gays a single time. Many fundagelicals are not really Christian. If Christ came back and saw what they do in his name, I suspect they would have a lot of explaining to do.
He may have just had a very teenie weenie and hated Blacks, because Black men tend to be so well endowed and probably hated Gays because some Gay guy looked over the stall in the bathroom and laughed at his teenie weenie. Well, you know Helms was butt ugly and stupid, so he was probably just pissed off at Blacks and Gays, because of his teenie weenie and Gays have such hot sex and he didn't! That's my theory! LMAO!
Jesse Helms's fame reached even Brazil, at least among better informed people. I have always wondered the same things as you do.
He might have been a gay man with internalized homophobia, he might have been someone with black ancestry in spite of the Caucasian looks (as I am myself - no drama in Brazil, for here an overwhelming majority of us is mixed-race), but he might just be a very power-hungry man who focused on a reactionary constituency. And it worked - how many times was he elected?
I wonder how his constituency justified electing him 5 times to the Senate! Oh that is right, in America the electorate is never held accountable, lets just all put on a happy face and forget the ill and the dead. I'm kind of ashamed right now of being from NC myself.
SHIT!! You took the words right out of my mouth when you said he might have been trying to hide his blackness....lol. I was about to add that as a comment. DAMN! I dont know what entitles someone to hate another person for no good reason. He was very haughty and thought himself precious. How ignorant! Turns out he was a mortal too.
Good theory. Called Reaction formation. Its a psycology concept in whcih people hide the true nature of ones self by publicly belittleing and opposing subjects. Usually if someone acts VERY strongly, almost to the point of irrationality about something...then they really arent that opposed to it , or sometimes are "it".
Like you said, he opposed gays. If his statements seemed irrational, then he very well could have been gay himself, but not knowingly would not have shown it, or ever come out.
your ideas are good but im not so sure about the black part
