I love Emma in this scene- brilliantly done.

At first I was surprised that Ron didn't hug Harry, but we really need to cut him some slack. Ron's brother just died, he had to be in a little bit of shock/angry. And to just hear his best friend say that he has to die in order for them to stop Voldemort? Emotional Range of a teaspoon can only go so far. Learning this had to have torn Ron apart. And at the end of the day, this didn't even happen in the book so what does it matter?

SHE stayed with him during the Goblet of Fire when Ron got jealous and abandoned him and SHE stayed with him in Deathly Hallows when Ron left the tent. She was there when he had to find the Philosopher's Stone and went farther than Ron. She was the one who went back in time with him and helped save Sirius. It was Hermione who decided to go with him to the Dept. of Mysteries. Hermione who fooled Umbridge. ETC. ETC.

Now that I think about it, I think it should have happened the way it did in the book - with Harry sneaking off to the forbidden forest using his invisibility cloak. There's no way Ron and Hermione would let Harry go like that.

Emma Watson's performance during this scene is what made it beautiful... I could literally feel her sadness - but the director failed to convey everyone's emotions - Like Ron's - and even Ginny's, Harry's freaking girlfriend.

I thought the whole movie was disappointing - from Fred's death to the epilogue... It was just lacking so much. It had great visuals and stunning cinematography, but the director didn't focus enough on the characters.

@Younme21x I mostly agree with you, but I think the point was to isolate Harry. Even though everyone around him was dying, it was more about him and Voldemort than the side characters. I do agree that the director should've played out the emotions of everyone else more, but I have a feeling he was probably singling out Harry to make the climax more interesting.

I think this is to further show the character development of Ron. In this book, alone, he has had a lot of growing up to do. Previously, he would have been childish about it. But now, he stands as a man, giving Harry a look of understanding and love. The moment shared when their eyes met is just as important as the hug he received from Hermione.
