  • I've meet him once in a bar here in Barcelona (Catalonia) it was in a cloudy morning in 2004 and he was unable to pay the bill, the barman was being rude, he didn't sleep during the night and he was obviously drunk. I came to him and said, "You can't pay the bill, huh?" I felt sorry for him, and I paid it. He then shake my hand and took something from his bag, it was a CD and he signed it to me. Once in my home I played it and I have 5 beautiful Albert Owens songs. I've never saw him again...

  • Albert was a true Gentleman and a good friend...most of his friends took care of him. He was rich in personality that's for sure. I have a cd of his performances and dvd...contact me if you are interested. Robert

  • He used to suffer grand mal seizures in the Park from time to time. He was an epileptic.

  • I met Albert about 20 years ago. I was close to him for about 7 years. I loved his shows, and he was a smart, kind man and a good friend.

I wish I could go back to Washington Sq. Park, watch him perform, and just say hi to him and hang out, like we did back in the day.

    I miss him.

    Avashalom, Albert...

  • I had the pleasure of working with Albert in Washington Square Park. He was a legend, along with Charlie Barnett and Rick Aviles. We did hundreds of shows and I will always remember and be inspired by his thirst for performing. He said what he felt, was funny as hell and took no crap out of anybody. I realize now I must have seen him last just before he passed. I didn't hear of him being gone until yesterday, when I passed through WSP. Thanks for posting this tribute.

  • He was a heavy weight that's fer sher. If only he was alive to comment on Obamas race speech. sigh.

  • Extreamly talented man and an articulate. He was an executive at one point in his life for Hertz and rumor said crack did him in.

    He was always a gentleman.

  • Crack did not do him in. He had a seizure, fell, hit his head and went into a coma.

  • A sublimely perfect clip of Albert Owens.

He was the same man onstage as off, and this clip takes a peek at both.

  • Albert Owens is king! This was by far the most talented man you probably never met! I loved this guy to pieces! This man was one of a kind!
