Hello ! My Pet - Angel, I did not give him a treat and he is well tamed. type it on youtube, Angel his exercise or Angel Falcon Attack and you will witness only one in this world -
This reminds me so much of my ring neck, Willy.. Whom' sadly passed away a couple years ago. He loved to be petted on the neck like that...._. I miss him.
i gotta a wee baby on my doorstep got blew fro the nest from the wind and rain of a scottish summer..fed him on ground peanuts and grain ....he,s awfy bonny ...we love wee colin
hey can u tell me how u made it like you i have adult doves hatched at my house and they dont like me at all... and there were new bayby doves and i want to make them tame can u pls tell me how?
I'm not sure. The only other bird I have is a cockatiel. I haven't had any other types of birds. It all depends on how they've been raised. If you're going to buy one from a store, try looking for one that specializes in birds and hand raises some of their own. (Instead of just shipping birds in) Or, even better, get a bird from straight a breeder. Again, it's all about how a bird is raised.
how do you know when its hungry cuz i got 9 ringneck doves in one big cage plus how do you sit there at the cage when they think your a predator when you look at it.
Take the food out during the morning and return around noon time. They should be hungry by then. A big cage is fine if there is plenty of room. But if there is too much fighting (i.e. doves with patches of feathers missing) then you might want to separate the aggressive doves. I have one male that hates all the other doves, so I keep him in a separate cage.
If you pet them, will they become tame faster?... I don't suggest petting. They'll perceive that as an attack from a predator. Offering food in your hand is the best way to tame a bird. If they refuse, then take their food out for a while and offer food in your hand, they'll be hungry and have no choice but to eat in your hand. If they still don't, then give them back their food and try another day. A dove can live between 10 to 30 years.
If the baby is cold, you need to warm it up right away. DO NOT feed a cold baby. Warm it up using either a warm towel, or a heating blanket. But if you're using a heating blanket or pad, make sure it's a newer model; older versions may produce fumes that will kill the baby. When the parents hit you, they're just trying to defend themselves, they won't hurt you, so you can ignore it.
Wild caught Mourning Doves probably cannot be tamed. Most people would scold you for taking them in, but I won't. I have a baby Mourning dove I'm raising. Taming any dove takes a lot of time and patience. Offer them their favorite food in your hand, but try not to look at the doves at first (eye contact means "predator" to them). Or just start by sitting quietly next to their cage so they get use to your presence.
Same thing I told Raultwinz325 right now. Time and patience. Sit quietly near their cage for a while until they get used to you being there. (Do that for small amounts at a time for a couple of weeks) Then try placing your hand in their cage, but make no sudden movements, keep doing that until they get used to you then. Then you can offer their favorite foods in your hand, they love bread. Take your time, be patient, no sudden movements.
Hand-raising doves from when they're little are the best way to have tame doves. That's how I got Baby to be the way she was. My method, in short, goes like this:
First 2-3 weeks: allow parents to raise babies unless there's a problem. Gently handle baby often, maybe feed too.
4 weeks & beyond: Take baby from parents, personally give food and water and try to teach baby how to feed itself.
Update: unfortunately... while transporting Baby from the outdoor coop to the house, the dogs spooked her and she flew off. I don't know if she'll ever come back, since doves are not homing.

if you let him fly outside? does he/she comebacks to your house?

Doves aren't homing like pigeons. Though a well bonded dove could return when called... Still not worth the risk of losing the bird.

I bought my first doves at a local pet store. Then when they had babies I raised the little birds myself, which is why Baby is so tame.
