Two questions. One, what awesome car are you driving? Two, is is hard for an American to get a job, house, and decent living there? Namibia is a great country.
I can´t believe it. In some parts it seems like México. I wanna go someday to Namibia. A very far place from my country. I went to South Africa World Cup, so next time I´ll go to Africa, I´ll go to Namibia. Is it a cool place to visit being a tourist? What can I do? Sorry of my english hehe. Is there racism?
Respect from a fucking, far and very different country, Mexico.
@pochentrismo racism is out of the question,we are africans aren't racist.we are hospitable and friendly to foreigners. We only have some bad guys in certain parts who cause mayhem and this is what the world sheds light on hence the stereotyped africa.I haven't been to namibia but i bet you will,.I am from Ghana.
MANY ETHNIC GERMANS THERE i BELIEVE. eVEN THOUGH THE NAME wIDHOEK ( wINDY hOOK ) SOUNDS AFRIKAANS/ NEHTERLANDERS. The V8 growl is nice , actually better than some music.
In many town the driiver would have been run in for reckless driving.
I miss home...It's just not the same here in London. I miss the blue skies, fresh air, yummy food, friendly, happy people and above all the beautiful scenery of Namibia. I'll be back one day...
@cyk90703 its safe to travel to any part of africa provided u have a good heart towards people.u are always welcome to our beloved continents,People gets killed too in america,EU and everywhere.South africans don't kill all tourists.
I just came back from living in Windhoek for two months. I watched this clip before I left to get a sense of the city. Very helpful. Now, if I'm not mistaken, the drive starts off near State House, and goes north along Robert Mugabe, Jan Jonker, Nelson Mandela, Omuramba, Eros and Heliodor in that order to Eros Park. Is that correct?
Great video, but it makes me crazy, you are driving on the left side. I don't know if I can drive there after more the 30 years with right hand cars. I will need a driver there. Thanks for sharing.
ltrjohn. I was there in 2007 and took some clips. You might be interested in looking at them as it would give you an up-to-date idea of what it is like
Perhaps they should use that in the next version of Midnight Club video game.
Though I've never been there (planning on it some day -- but more in the deserts), my impression of Windhoek, perhaps left over from the South African rule days, is that it is incredibly boring and conservative.
I'm sure it has changed a bit. I am wondering how much?
Wow its so calm, there almost nobody in the streets. It looks a little bit like Australia because of the desertic climat or even like southern California because of the Mediterranian buildings. Even N'Djamena's streets are busyer. But the streets in Windheok are so well paved compare to N'Djamena. Nambia is a very wealthy country for Africa. :)
Flippen baie dankie vir hierdie een! Jus, ek wil sommer huil, want ek mis Windhoek so baie. Ek bly nou in Kanada...en jy ry die pad wat ek so baie kere gery het. Thanks! ;)
Thnx 4 putting this video on youtube i always try to c if i know where u r but i always get lost..And why r u driving soooooooooo slow?? People in Windhoek Nvr Drive so slow......
Hi Alan, great movie! makes me a feel a little back to windhoek,... if you are gonna make more movies it would be great if you could include El Cubano :-) loved it there.. and if i can ask one more thing..:S .. how about a drive to Penduka (project) at the Goreangabdam?! :) it would be so great to take that virtual road all along independence ave. up to the dam.. !!
anyways i'll be checking ur page to see if you'll add any new video's , don't want to miss out on Joe's beerhouse either :)
that looks like very nice city and country to live. how much is a decent house in windhoek? can you get a decent house there for less than 100k american dollars?

I want to travel to African continent some day.
My first concern is security.
Is it safe to travel especially in Namibia?
I heard that many tourists were attacked and robbed of in South Africa.

Might as well be Los Angeles or Phoenix.

Yeah, flawless around 36k USD, which is 279,000 NAD (Namibian Dollars).
Namibia's nice and they speak English(but you should try to learn Nama and Afrikaans).

Aside from driving on the left and the road signs, this view of Windhoek could pass for almost any city in southern California or Arizona.

I liked the drive quite abit. Is Namibia much safer than South Africa, in terms of crime?
