Some parts of Monster's Inc are actually pretty deep. Its a kids movie in the context of Sully acting as a father figure to Boo in a world full of monsters who are ironically afraid of her, but some of the scenes between Mike and Sully are really very poignant from an adult point of view. I found I can relate more to this film more and more as I get older, especially where we see Mike and Sully's buddy relationship fall apart because Sully is protecting someone more vulnerable.

In the scene where Sulley says goodbye to Boo. She shows him various toys. Such as a Jessie doll (Toy Story 2) and even a Nemo toy. But Finding Nemo hadn't even been released back then.
