@sullysboy When we first seen it , it was doing ballast work in Monteith. It had to back up back to Porquois JCT as there was a southbound Northlander coming.
@NBEC69 No my fav locomotive has always been the GP38-2. The ONR has 5 SD40-2's left on their roster. 1731 and 1736 were sold off to Progressive Rail Services a few years ago. 1730,1733,1734,1735 and 1737 are the only units left on the roster. 1732 was destroyed in a major derailment back in 1996. The ONR only ever bought 8 SD40-2 brand new.
It also helps to have good camera equipment. Now I don't have a hi def camcorder but it isn't that old either. I shoot my still pics with a Kodak Z612 6.1 mp digital camera and it takes awesome photos, and the video cam was a 300 dollar JVC mini dv camcorder which also takes still pics as well as great video. My videos aren't as crisp as a high def camera like you have but it gets the job done, plus you tube takes some of that lustre away too when you upload. The raw vids are awesome!
Well Joey, Both Joe and Lisa both say that I am good luck as every time I get up there railfanning with them , there IS ALWAYS major traffic or something weird going on and we always manage to get it on video. So I am happy to have great friends in Matheson. This day was just another fluke lol.
thats awesome! well how about you spread some luck my way lol. mark my words, there will be tons of winter videos because il be able to get out railfanning on my skidoo

Is EMD SD40-2 your favorite type of locomotives? How much Ontario Northland Railway have SD40-2 now?
