You’ve all lost your minds. Three years ago every episode of Red Dwarf was available on Youtube in 10 minute bites, three per episode. These sanitized little gobbets from the BBC are a farce.
F**k you BBC comedy, I've paid for this already, I'm f****d if I'm going to pay again.
Chris Barrie showing his impression skills. I watched this episode the other night - didn't really remember season II being as funny as the others, but I was pleasantly suprised.
@TheWonderfulWombat Oh gods how revolting. It's like when there's dog poo on the pavement and I keep looking as I walk past even though I feel sick. Then I notice the undigested bits of food, the heave-worthy yellow/brown colour and the fact that someone has trodden and smeared it half-way down the road. I can never watch this clip again now.

he's eerily good at impersonating Craig! It doesn't seem like it so much when you're watching him, but if you look away from the video and listen it just sounds like Craig is saying his lines twice (well... almost).
funny that he impersonates the cat when his personality wouldn't have been on file on the ship to be able to be accidentally loaded by rimmer... unless he is literally just spazzing and doing impressions without any kind of choice or thought
Chris Barrie (Rimmer) reads the Red Dwarf novel on audio book and impersonates all the characters. It is so good! Search "Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers" on youtube.
@lonerider1985 They certainly do the best punch lines, my favourite is the one where they set off the self destruct by ordering a milk shake and a toffee crisp, that joke has the best punchline ever.
I thought back to earth was good! it was much better than series 7 - 8, they were just wrong. Look at it for what it is guys, back to earth was a step in the right direction, no canned laughter, the original red dwarf posse minus annoying Kochanski and resurrection crew, the characters acted like they used to before series 7, the coronation street part was inspired, and it was genuinely funny in places. it wasn't perfect but it was a step forwards. Long live Red Dwarf!
Thank you! I just wish all Dwafer's could see it the same way. It wasn't perfect, but it was Red Dwarf. After ten years, be greatful that thery're doing anything at all.
It was okay. I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the original series (except 7&8 - they were worse than B2E) as I actually MISSED the canned laughter. It was part of Red Dwarf and it felt empty without it. I probably sound strange, but it's true. I DID, however, prefer it without Kochanski, and it was really interesting to see Lister actually have EMOTIONS!! :o! Good trio of episodes, but I prefer the old series. Still love them, though, and I'm glad they did it after 10 years. :)
your right, but i thought it needed the laughter. its not canned laughter, red dwarf was filmed before a live studio audience. so the laughs were genuine.
I agree with those people saying that the new episodes should have had the laughter, even if it had to be canned rather than shown to an audience. It just seemed too serious without.
And I wouldn't write off all of series 7 - I'm not a fan of Kochanski in it, but before that the JFK episode and return of Ace Rimmer in particular were awesome. Oh, and the little singing Rimmers in Blue, lol :)
To be honest, I've never seen the problem with Season 7. Even if, yeah, if Kochanski is annoying, that didn't put too much of a dent on any of the episodes. Didn't actually make them BAD.
But yeah the first two episodes were still the best. :D Really well thought-out. And Ouroboross.
@MzyraJ the 'Tikka To Ride' was definitely awesome. "This Chicken is great', "It's not chicken sir.... It's that man we found". "One minute you're down, and the next you're right back up".

@m0neyhack3r why is there a need to divide comedy? And wasn't Red Dwarf inspired by Blade Runner? Wasn't one of the main actors in that movie American, Harrison Ford was it? point is, comedy is comedy, not one group of people or country does it better than the others. It would be ridiculously closed minded to think so. look at Monty Python and then at Carol Burnette, both shows had similiar styles in presenting comedy.
@blagger56 Oh, sweetheart...you have no idea. There is a HUGE group of people in this country who are far FAR from rednecks. Shame US TV does play to the lowest common denominator, which is why I watch so much British tv. We definitely aren't all rednecks, though, I promise.

@jeibear@jeibear While I am here, have you noticed that on America's next top model, that MISS JAY (what is that?) with his basin haircut and dickie bow tie is a dead ringer for Dwayne Dibley. @blagger56 well since comedy is, imo, the first of man to man entertainment, Not man on stage mind you. then pathos, which is the emotional credibility of a message presented in order to reach an audience, is very easy to get.
