you nailed it buddy, it's always about the music....you may have started something here...johnnie walker black, the black card from american express...."lawyers in love - black" very cool, glad we're on the cutting edge
I've always liked Jackson Brown's music despite the lyrical content. His need to toss in references to aliens always seemed to get in the way for me. The key to lyrical content are timeless and broadly relateable idea's. Aliens? Your sort of aiming at the narrow end of the wedge with references like that. And I think that's hurt his career. I've love to see his catalog done over with lyrics that feel more approachable. Musically the man gifted, but he needs a writing partner.
You know, I absolutely love this song but I have always wondered what he meant with the whole " Lawyers in Love" part of this song. It doesnt seem to fit! lol :-P This is most certainly my favorite song from Jackson Browne though! It is just a great song and of course there are so many memories tied to this song. Memories of youth in the 80's and all the fun and crazy times I had back then. What a time that was and a time I will always cherish! I just looove the 80's and I miss it so much! :-(
Wow, all this hub-bub over the lack of video. Thanks to those who’ve got my back on the audio quality thing – that’s all I’m about. I rarely watch video’s, usually just cue my songs, then I’m off doing other things. Had I known this would have to stay up once disputed and accepted, I would have added the album cover first – my bad. I learned. 3 dislikes, though? WTF happened to them in their youth? This is a perfect song and we’ve got the audio locked, baby. Don’t hate, appreciate…
No problem with the blank screen... it was pretty obvious on the thumbnail and is fine if I just want to hear the song. Thanks for posting! If I want to see the video, I'll just click on a different link.
oh for crying out loud...click on another track that shows video of this song if that's what you want...she comments while belly laughing and rolling her eyes
Listen, I'm not trying to hate because I love this song but, this is YouTube. A video sharing website, the video does matter. If you just wanted the song you could just go download the song. Once again not trying to be a hater, just pointing out a simple fact.
I think the song is about consumer society and its lack of moral values. During the Regan administration and one of the tensest periods of the Cold War it's incredible it was on Friday Night Videos. I love the song but the video would also bring so many memories. It's even more incredible that you can't see the original video on youtube.
A good song, that is if you're willing to look past its message (with Jackson Browne being a die-hard liberal). A history-making song in a way, since the U.S.S.R. no longer exists. I don't quite understand the lyric: "...the U.S.S.R. will be open soon - as vacation land for lawyers in love.". I can't even begin to fathom what that even means! Anyway, a good song. "Lawyers In Love" peaked on the U.S. Billboard pop singles chart in October 1983!
"A good song, that is if you're willing to look past its message (with Jackson Browne being a die-hard liberal)"...."I don't quite understand the lyric: "...the U.S.S.R. will be open soon...""
Remember when Muslims villified the Satanic Verses but hadn't actually read it yet? You guys villify things you haven't even UNDERSTOOD yet, even though you HAVE heard them
And what's really sad is it is true - the USSR was sold within years of being opened to capitalism, just like Iraq
Calling people names over the internet, what bravery...I'm sure you found the video, but I bet the song doesn't sound as good as this, and that's more important.
WHO CARES ABOUT THE VIDEO!? The song is what matters, and your audio quality is the better than anyone's on this song. Yes, it IS a good video, but it's hard to get good audio quality along with video broadcasts- SO LAY OFF PEOPLE!
This is a great tune - had forgotten about it until I heard on satellite radio. INstantly took me way back. Nice clear version - thank you for posting!
Blank video is perfect, that way we can read comments while listening and not worry about missing the vid! You're a genius!
