5/1=__ is asking one will add how many times will one add repeatedly to make five? five times O+O+O+O+O=OOOOO (or five divides into how many multiples of one)
10/5=__ asks how many repeated amounts of five will ten objects divide into (2) or how many times will five multiply (add repeatedly) to make 10 or 5 x __=10 (five times what amount equals ten).
your trying to teach something differently than intented. your not dividing four into groups of people. counting systems are designed to make a map of your inventory to do away with oral memorization. your dividing four into multiples of two and simply showing how may times you can multiply (repeatedly add) two to make four or how many multiples of two four divides into.. hope that helps make division a bit clearer.
just remember gang division is basic multiplication not the inverse. your simply asking how close can you multiply the number your dividing by and reach the number your dividing.
if your going to do the problem as repeated subtraction 4/2=? how many times can you subtract 2 from 4 till you reach zero. 4-2=2-2=0, you can subtract 2 twice from 4. this becomes inane at even small large number amounts and multiplication est. is a better way to come up with the answer.
any easy way of looking at it is 6/2=? is asking 2 x __ =6 6/2=3 because two will add repeatedly to make six three times 2+2+2=6 and because six objects will divide into multiples of two three times OOOOOO/OO= OO+OO+OO
