  • Thank you for your encouraging words. Lao and Taidam are in the same family. I was born in Laos and considered Laos as my homeland and root! We love and pray for the Country of Laos and Her people. Blessings, daraR

  • Dara, please post more song .I really love the song.great work.

  • im very unfamiliar with taidam? what nationality is this, no offense.

  • Taidam people are ethnic minority of Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, China, and Mogolia.

More than 50% are in Vietnam.

  • Taidamfan, you refer about Taidam in Mongolia. Can you tell me any (book or papers) reference?

    With true mind

    Thank you.

  • Hey Naxi, I am Taidam, actually, I am a Ca Van, does that last name tell you that I am Taidam? You can't get any references to where our people our from beyond Vietnam. Believe me, I've asked my grandparents when they were alive. I believe that our race is suppose to be (extinct) obsorbed into other cultures, so that is why there is no written record of where our people came from. Why don't you try asking your elders and see what they say

  • If you listen slowly to the song, it is very similar to Lao. Really, it just the accent of how the Tai Dam people speak. We are from the same region of south China down to northern Laos and western part of Vietnam.

  • Hello Dara Rasavanh, I am learning Tai-dam tone. It seems to me that you just sing in Lao by shifting back to the northern tone. Of course, some words are still not digested by me. I know well about the rythm in Laos, but I am not sure that it is originally Tai-dam or not? If you can tell, please.

    Thank you.

  • Hello apochi4179: The Taidam words in this song is sung to the modern music which made the tone even closer to Laotians. But Lao, Thai(Thailand), and Taidam language are very similiar since we came from the same language family, especially when it's put into modern songs/music, it's hard to tell which is which. Real Taidam song is very much like chanting only flute as instrument, then it's much harder to understand. Hope this help. Dara R.

  • Taidamfan,

Thank you very much. Very informative. I may ask you about new words some days.

    Really thank you.

  • Refer to Salexfr, learning about this matter, 'Coedes Collection (Indo-China)'(Google or Yahoo) tells almost everything. In a book 'Kingdom of Laos' by Rene de Berval with Coedes, France-Asia, Saigon, 1959, it is recorded that: Citizens of Laos are Thais with this hair style of the old woman and dark grey clothes. This color of Dark Grey is called 'Shee Seev' in Lao. The Seev or chisel history is related to the Pumpkin (Mharq-U) legend of the Lao. The U fruit is related to Tibet religion.

  • nice, I understand only half but, this song made

me thinking about some one very special back in

    laos.

  • when I was young in Luangprabang ,I used to hear the old TaiDam people say that their king was king of Luangprabang ,and SonLA ,Dien Bien Phu( Muang Teng ) these areas were part of Laos.

Please email me direct, and I will attach the song for you.

    Were you in Sonla? When?

  • Thank you taidamfan for imformation about taidam.

  • Anybody knows is taidam original from Vietnam? When I listen to this song,it is sound like Vietnam accent.

  • Taidam language is a combination of Vietnamese, Laotian and Chinese, the accent sounds more like Vietnamese.

  • Taidam people are part of the Tai(Dai) people group that originated from South China and migrated along the Black River over 3000 years ago, they settled mostly in N.Vietnam, some in Laos, and some in Thailand. After 1950, over 20,000. TD Rulers/officials, Soldiers, and their families from N.Vietnam seek assylums in Laos and S.Vietnam, and they settled there for over 20 years.

  • After 1975, the TD again seek assylums in USA, France, and Autralia. Des Moines, IA is known as the home of the TD of the free world of more than 5,000 TD currently lives. There are around 1,000,000. of Taidam people in the World, given that some are still in parts of China.

  • The TD people can be distinctively identified by their costumes, and language(both written and spoken words). A long black skirt, green belt, a long sleeve blouse with closely lined of front silver button is the trademark of the Taidam people.

  • im half taidam and half lao. good work and music about sonla. i wish i can visit someday. i have family still in sonla.but i know more taidam cause i was race from taidam family than lao culture.
