you dude, it looks like dean is in standard tuning. I'm not sure what chords he's using, in the beginning they look like triads, but then again i'm not sure because he plays more than the three notes in those triads.

I play the classical guitar (finger picking) but in finger picking people usually use their nails (whether steal strings or nylon) but he is not! he is using the surface of his thumb and not his nail... this is what is unique about it...
