Single most beautiful, most uplifting, most subliminal piece in history of Classical music, if not of all music. "What Love Tells Me" is indeed an anthem for humanity and the entire cosmos... every manifestation of God/Love.
great vid! 5 *! I found it thanks to den To, who is always willing to share vids of fantastic musical performances with me! keep up the good work! RAGGAMUFFIN SOLDIERS
Thanks to Jane Uitti for bringing me to this link, and to Don Altman for bringing me to MahlerFest. So lovely. For Mahler lovers, I recommend Ken Russell's Mahler"

The conductor is Robert Olson. I have played (violin) all 10 of Mahler's symphonies with the Colorado Mahlerfest, under Bob Olson -- including this recording. He is terrific, to say the least -- He has Mahler deeply in his blood!
Absolutely beautiful. My college marching band used to play an arrangement of this movement every saturday before the parade to the stadium as well as a tribute to the senior members. It's very special to me. Thanks for the post :)
i'm a big mahler and marching band person too, i can't even imagine how cool this would sound (when properly arranged) played by a marching band... what band were you in?
anyone know who the principal trumpet is?

According to the Program Notes for MahlerFest XIII, the principal trumpet was Keith Benjamin, Kansas City.

A bit slower than usually played, and with less legato. Its hard for the orchestra to sustain. Interesting, though. Thanks for posting it.

Symphony 3 is (arguably) Mahler's greatest work, and how grateful I am to 'MahlerFest' for posting the closing movement.
I do like the conductor's pace. Who is he, by the way? Thanks.
