The versatility is what makes this breed so unique." The breed will never be the same. It seems you may have been self serving., but I searched for the right type of dog for myself, but in defense of hunters with Boykins, they kept the secret for 70 years for reason, daaa..... to keep puppy mills from destroying the breed. Well theres' your 15 minutes of fame, but a lifetime of disservice to what may occur to the breed as a wholeI
@stopboykinakc I was against this since 1987,the breeds they've(AKC/UKC) destroyed is long and expansive. These short sighted idiots like the 2 women in this video may well have doomed the last true hunting dog this country will produce.Egocentric assholes like these 2 need to be ashamed, but they never will be.They got their bloated faces on T.V. To hell with both of you
"showing" standnever actually hunted (but are thus represented as if they do online) and are breed just for ards. Then these "disposable" dogs are sold like property and new ones "grown" out to continue the cycle. You can tell who does this by the ever changing names of the dogs on their web sites AND such people generally breed and sell at least one other breed of dog
Well there goes the neigborhood. There is a reason that the boykins have been kept a secret. To keep people from over breeding these dogs due to popularity. These dogs will never be the same. Was it not your quote Ms. Watts, "My soapbox about show breeders and "mini mills": Sadly, most '"show breeders" have what I call "disposable" dogs which are bred often...
This is the exact reason why sooooo many of us do not want the Boykin Spaniel to have anything to do with the AKC. These dogs are not show dogs and should not be bred for show.
that dog isnt even a true boykin, you can see the white patch on the dogs chest... try getting into the boykin spaniel society with a dog that looks like that they might laugh at you.
it does seem to be a large white patch. mine has a few white hairs in the center of her chest, and most boykins i have seen or hunted with have medium to heavy curls.
I don't how I about sharing our South Carolina Boykins with everyone! I have been lucky enough to have been owned by two of them. I can't say enough about the breed, beautiful, smart, mine have been easily trained. Abby, my Boykin now has wonderful manners, she greets people when they come over, but then she is ready to sit with me.
I am relly lucky to have her. Puppies arre so cute, but they grow in to adults, be sure you study about this breed and find out if they are the dog for you,
I have a Cocker spaniel/ cavalier king Charles spaniel cross (Cockalier).. She is dark brown with a white chest and the same bright eyes as a Boykin.. basically she looks just like a mini Boykin so it's safe to say I'm a big fan! :)
I wonder if anyone in this video was ever reprimanded by the Boykin Spaniel Society for registering dogs with too much white.....hmmmmm

Personally, I enjoyed hearing about the Boykin. I was looking for info about the breed 'cause a friend has one.

Boykins are the best dogs in the world!
Our dog is great with kids, responds to commands, is incredibly smart and obedient.
I would recommend this dogs to anybody who has a lot to give and plenty to receive!

Good to see that your Boykin is doing what he is bred to do. HUNT.
It is a shame that people are turning them into foofoo dogs.
