  • HE CAN DANCE TOO?!?!?!?! oh god damn he is my hero

  • Oops, just saw them name Brain. Guess I should have finished watching before posting |

    V

  • Was this with Brain and the rest of Praxis?

  • Comment removed

  • If I could jam with any 4 people in the world, it would be Buckethead, Tomas Haake, Steve Harris and Chino from deftones.

  • is this full show available anywhere?

  • Are those all upstrokes?

  • @Redtotheg

    damn right

  • Man... now this is what I call a power trio. Brain is sick!!

  • @tmoodyband its Buckethead not Brian. If you're a real Buckethead fan, you'll call him by his real name.

  • @GOKZERAH

If YOU were a true Buckethead fan, you would know Brain (Brian Mantya) is a good friend of Buckethead, and plays drums with him often. I'm pretty sure that's who he was talking about.

    Trio: Buckethead, Laswell, Brain.

  • Whoa! This was on PBS? This is WAY better than a tote bag!

I think that's Bill Laswell on bass. No wonder the Republicans want to defund public broadcasting: it has Art on it like this amazing-assed jit.

  • If Buckethead would have moon-walked, I would have shit myself.

  • @neurocosm /watch?v=u_jj1IhEYks

  • @LawyerScumGhost - Thanks. I've shat myself. Now, if you would kindly post a video on how an adult male changes his own diapers, that would be fantastic, then.

  • Buckethead never get's old, he's classic the first time and the 1000th time.

  • This Should have been Buckethead's Tv Show Like on the Album Giant Robot

  • Kick....ASSS!

    but Where is P Sticks?

  • BILL LASWELL?!

  • ohhhhhhhh hes no man .... hes machine !!! Ok, it makes more sense now !!!

  • Is that Kim Thayil on bass?

  • i like how everyone is just watching like its something they normally see

  • bucket does a mean robot

  • @ericgobucks73 shtick also schtick or shtik (shtk)

    n. Slang

    1. A characteristic attribute, talent, or trait that is helpful in securing recognition or attention: waiters in tropical attire are part of the restaurant's shtick.

    2. An entertainment routine or gimmick.

  • @ericgobucks73

Its signature Buckethead, does it almost every single show. Sometimes breaks out dancing in the streets too. And barely ever ever speaks a word. Ever.

  • Of course, let's use four shots per second, and only twisted pictures, why did nobody ever think of it ? Because it is a terrible idea !!

    I almost puked. Twice.

  • @MikroXdrums lmao

  • I never understood how Bucket doesn't get extremely hot under the mask, wig, and bucket while rocking so damn hard. I guess it's because he doesn't even break a sweat playing "Eruption."

  • Amazing. How does he do the stretchy strap thing?

  • @JohnnyTubesock It's a No1 Stretch Strap

  • damm he rlly is the only person who slaps a guitar o.o!

  • The people in attendance, may they rest in peace, experienced an awesome display of guitar and stagecraft excellence.

  • Comment removed

  • Bucket calls it "Chicken Pickin".

  • The dances moves put a weird twist on the performance. I LOVE ITT!!!!

  • k, so hes a ninja/guitar god/ bucket head?

  • Awesome.

  • Love to watch the Bucket do his thing. A true mad genius.

  • DUE BUCKET HEADCAN USE NUN CHUCKS! LOL

  • I remember seeing a very short glimpse of this on tv when I was in a hotel on vacation years ago. Honestly I was like "HOLY MONKEYS!!!! IT'S BUCKETHEAD!!!!!"

at that point I only knew him from doing the Guns and Roses gig but it always stuck in my mind that he was on TV. yep yep.

  • I have never seen slap guitar done so rapidly or so well. +1 to Bucket.

  • @LawyerScumGhost indeed...Buckethead has the power to change lives. We are only here for so long, so enjoy the time you're allowed and embrace what you love!

  • Buckethead is 1 of those extremely rare musicians that actually mastered his instrument and can play every style and master every1. THese musicians come once in a lifetime. Enjoy the music while he's still around because there may never be a guitarist quite like him. Pure Epic

  • A thousand thanks for posting this.

  • @legitimatebusiness no problem, I watch a lot of PBS, and could not believe Buckethead was on the screen taking an unaware audience to Mars, then Bootsy shows up later and takes them to the funk galaxy. I wish TV was like this everyday.

  • @419211 people have called this "slap guitar", Bucket uses a tremendous amount of improvisation when he performs, this is one of his creations.

  • @LawyerScumGhost He is probably the first to do it on a guitar, but slapping on a bass guitar has been around for many decades, and he has obviously taken inspiration from that. It is quite impressive to use slapping on such small strings tough.

  • @KAGEJOSE you are correct, I am pretty sure Bucket was inspired to do slap guitar when jamming with Les Claypool.

  • @LawyerScumGhost I think he actually grew up with Claypool. Their dynamic seems way to close to just be a simple musician commonplace relationship. This and Buckethead actually used to play bass before he played a 6 string.

  • @legitimatebusiness yes, excellent sound quality too!!! 8-)

  • I honestly thought this was gonna be stupid but those were some bad ass riffs and using nunchucks while doing the robot is just fucking epic!

  • @ml191 don't judge a book by its cover, my little droogie. when you have an open mind you will be rewarded with beautiful music that most will never hear.

  • @LawyerScumGhost Droogie? Clockwork Orange? You sir have excellent taste. I tip my hat to you.

  • the crazy thing about big sur moon is that he up picks everything. buckethead is technical in so many ways that he isn't given credit for.

  • looks like kim thayil on bass

  • looks like kim thayil on bass

  • Does anybody else think buckethead was a youth that had too much time

on his hands, but he put it to good use?

  • Read the buckethead's story on his webside, then you will know the reasons for the mask and bucket :)

  • @Schpudd why would someone recognize him if he sees his pinky?

  • guitar shredding , nunchuks, robot dancing, what more can you ask for?

  • sent chills up my fuckin spine! :)

  • OMG 4:41 was like @#&^ YEAH!!!!!!

  • Good guitarist but the robot dance was stupid.

  • @foolishjerk YOU DON'T DESERVE TO HEAR THE BUCKET.

  • buckethead is buckethead alright god prejudice people.

  • Girl in black dress who....listened to Mr Buckethead's music now she must to became his wife!

  • @elluzion9 Are you talking about the lady that handed him nunchucks? :S Thats his girlfriend.

  • @RetroSparkles oO didn't now about her. What's her name?

  • @elluzion99 Donna, dont know her last name.

  • @RetroSparkles

Oh, i would pay everything i've got to see their wedding) Anyway thanks for information

  • i've heard the dance music in many buckethead videos but what is the name of it?

  • @JonnyYang123 if you're referring to the music in the background while here doing the nuchakus and the robot, its called "Twister" by Dave Tipper

  • Nunchuks ftw

  • This was on PBS. The T.V. channel where in the mornings it shows cildrens cartoons. Because if so, I feel like a dumbass for not watching that channel. It sucks that I missed something like this on T.V.

  • Buckethead is epic, I got 28 of his albums ;)

  • @northencail2099 not bad

  • @209Productionz thanks :) I wish he had more fame

  • @gunmadkiller Nah,you just have to be great.....gimmicks always die,legendary skillz live forever!@

  • I have had the opportunity to see many great bands live and Buckethead commands the stage more than anyone else I have seen. He is eccentric, but he is also very entertaining. Wearing the mask allows him to be himself.

  • Robot dancing..... I did not expect that: :)

  • Wow thanks LSG for recording this PBS BH episode and for making it available on youtube. Nice sound and video. BH iz da bomb!

  • How come people assume him to be autistic when he could just as easily be have synesthesia...

  • why is the crowd so dead...?

  • Whats with the girl just watching hi the whole show...

  • @BucketandSlash Big D.

  • @UnknownSect333

    yeah but shes just...watching...

  • @BucketandSlash Some sort of motivation Bucket? I don't know... Buckethead and his acquaintances seem to be pretty weird like that.

  • @UnknownSect333 guess so.

  • wooow hes a really good dancer

  • Buckethead ... and Brain..... mind blown....

  • @LawyerScumGhost - Right on brother.

  • These people have no idea what's going on...

  • This is inspiring - it's that other side, creative genius I'd been opressed in, here it's like wow...exploRsive!.

  • whats the reason for the getup....Mask,hat?

  • @excelerater Bucket is extremely shy, he is also a big fan of Michael Myers, Leatherface etc., so he created this persona. After listening to his music for a while you won't even notice anymore...you will realize it is everyone else who is wearing a mask and Bucket is just being himself.

  • @LawyerScumGhost nicely said :)

  • @LawyerScumGhost no offence but I thought he was emo

  • @LawyerScumGhost

people say under the mask he is just a person and you can look at it that way but it spoils it,

as soon as that mask and bucket goes on he turns from a person into buckethead, the BEST player in the world

  • @LawyerScumGhost that is the best answer to that question i have ever heard. " you will realize it is everyone else who is wearing a mask and Bucket is just being himself." thank you my frined, thank you

  • @excelerater dont ask stupid fking questions, THATS FKING BUCKETHEAD MAN

  • 0:00 - 01 .07 AWESOME! A pleasure for my ears

  • BIG D is hot... you are very lucky, Mr.Buckethead.

  • @excelerater because hes buckethead thats why

  • @excelerater on top of what lawyerscumghost said it's so he can have a rockstar life and a personal life too. he won't get recognised anywhere unless someone sees his pinky. he stays true to his music, and i've never seen anyone do it as much as buckethead

  • Buckethead sucks

  • Is BIG D his girlfriend I know he has a song called big d

  • i would be going crazy if i were them but these people don't seem like they care how sad

  • @1962trex

    I wish I was buckethead's girlfriend. :(

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji Wow, what do you know about Buckethead? I dont think a socially retarded moron is capable of having opportunities such as Ozzy and GnR by being an idiot. Buckethead is just a persona, a character created by Brian Carroll. He's a musical genius.... everything that comes out of his guitar is amazing. Emotional shredder... and his 30 (up to date) studio solo albums...um im pretty sure they're pretty good :)

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji you assume a great deal

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji heheheh they have to handfeed you the fact that you're a presumptous conformist vagina that has be babyfed explanations you would not figure out for yourself. You're the prime example of idiot poster childs that are obsolete in society and are the very germs that keep progress from moving forward because your disdain for the very unconventional that can usher new ideas and acceptance of new ideas, peoples, etc. We're stuck in the jurassic era because of insects like you.

  • @Famadeus101 It must be quite a struggle to defend something that is obviously shit.

You not being able to respect my oppinion is proof of how big a cocksucker you are.

Talking about new ideas, respect for eachother and progress, whilst being a little grave robbin corpse fucking no good son of a bitch, not able to respect anything else than you find worthy. I've listened to all his albums and save a few songs, everything is mediocre at best..

  • How Buckethead ended up at PBS?I'll never know. But its @PBS where a crowd of people who are not used to conforming to other things outside their box where they end up.I think its sure better if you calm down & instead you be given a dose of more PBS-friendly, simple conservative, Sesame street-like music that you can easily understand & easily recognize according to ongoing routine experience. An old dog cant be taught new tricks & any attempts at it the dog will exagerrate as being anal rape

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji thats his persona

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji And I quote:

" This guy is is musical genious, but a retard living in a fantasy world."

You REALLY know how to make a consistent argument lol. And anyways, so what if he lives in a fantasy world. I have unlimited respect for any man who makes a living off of being himself, regardless of how strange and shy he is.

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji You sir, are an idiot.

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji He puts on the mask and hides his identity because "It's about the music, not the person behind it" - Buckethead

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji You're a fucking tool.

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji he's just real eccentric, he's a real private guy and wanted to have a life not drowning in fans everywhere he goes. he likes to be anonymous.

  • @NinaUldahlMeridji sounds like you are describing yourself

  • His numb chucks disappear..I never noticed that before

  • @dannyhood66 well really he just drops them really fast and it looks like they disappear

  • i hate it when people post videos saying "buckethead unmasked" that just ruins the fun.

  • just a knobhead trying to hard to be weird and interesting, really tedious and annoying so much so i had to comment. total crap,i'd rather watch that fat brazilian dude any day

  • Apparently plays slap guitar

  • Where did the numbchucks go? They disappeared is what happened..It seems buckethead has added another skill to his stage performance..Amazing,''this man made animatronic character with detachable body parts! Timothy leary's teaching was right! If he could only see the results his favorite pupils accomplished from the valleys of neptune university lab,'that is located somewhere in the pacific 500 miles below on the ocean floor, of what used to be between Laurasia Gondwanalands inland tethys sea

  • This is one of the weirdest performances I have seen :D But it surely is pretty cool...

  • @mpalin11 We are recruiting'' Join your buckethead army now! Become a BOT

  • wow. he reminds so much of ritchie blackmore. just his style and use of the volume knobs and style of playing.

  • Animatronic character? Obviously he exist of coarse but in what way? As we believe, as flesh and blood human beings. How can someone be real when its been assembled or put together mechanically? Why is it, that the mind makes these fictional characters come alive so vividly? To the point they begin to move and make decisions of their own..And able to play digital music of expression feeling that is10 times the average weight of emotion in humans..Only existing in this corner of the universe

  • Fucking Fearsome !

  • @1962trex They definitely dated, but I don't know if they are still together. Anyone know?

  • @LawyerScumGhost There was a vid of buckethead performing "Soothsayer" back in his 2009 tour and i'm positive that big D was in the vid

  • @DigitalxFe3r yeah, that's her...looking damn sexy too, thanks for the info

  • ...is he slapping a guitar.

  • lol I love his elastic strap.

  • Buckethead uses Nunchucks. It's super effective.

  • So PBS has Arthur and now Buckethead. This is slowly becoming one badass television channel.

  • is he just the shit at everything?

  • how many stick does Brain break during a set I wonder?

  • buckethead should be the new member of slipknot

  • who's the bassist?

  • @THEAndrewBanker That's Bill Laswell, he put the show together and is one Bucket's earliest collaborators. The credits say "Buckethead" but with Bill, Brain and Bucket playing together it's really a band called "Praxis".

  • @LawyerScumGhost I think the original bassist on the LP is Bootsy Collins, but Im not too familiar with Praxis.

  • @Economics143 Yeah, I think Bootsy may have been on the first Praxis album, but the line-up rotates a lot. I think Laswell is the producer mainly.

  • @THEAndrewBanker

    That's Buckethead of course!

  • I accidently happened on this PBS special when it air, I was like "What the fuck"! been digging this shit ever since.

  • @ozonewdb yeah, I saw Bucket play with Guns and Roses, lost interest in GNR and became a Bot.

  • @LawyerScumGhost

haha im glad i read you comment, i thort i smelt the blood of a bucketbot

  • wow!

  • everyone in that crowd has to be so blown away at what they are seeing

  • What date was this aired?

I can't help but think of hendrix when i see bucket.

Not that he copies him in any way, their artistic uniqueness and direction seems to have parallels.

That and they are some are the few maestros of the guitar.

  • i need to know when this show was!!!!

    please tell me

  • it's buckethead's lady friend!

  • 1:12 'Nuff said

  • I just don't understand how anyone could 'dislike' this. I just don't understand...

  • is there any instrument he cant play???

  • Wait, Big D? This is confusing :/

  • @grillerg Big D is his girlfriend (or was at the time as far as I know that hasnt chainged)
