  • c est beau ce clip ....

  • I love, love, love this song........if I , could, just, catch, my BREATH!!!

  • Beautiful Music... With love from Nigeria.....

    Long live West Africa!

  • Would someone please share what Gorel means and what this song is about?

Is this song in Pulaar? (I just read on Wikipedia that Baaba Maal usually sings in Pulaar and then I read on the Wiki page on Pulaar that that is a Fula language.) So am I correct that Pulaar and Fulani are the same people? Thanks for the information.

Btw, I posted this video on my online page of YouTube music/dance gems. Google Jambalayah.

    -an African American sista

  • @Azizip17 Pulaar or Fulfulde is the name of the language that Fulani people speak.

  • @312CLIQ Thanks for that information. Please excuse my ignorance.

  • @tdiallo1 about this music being American, maybe what meant was that this music & dancing is like some American music. The music & men dancing at 015 sounds like & looks like MC Hammer's rap music/dance style. Even the men's pants reminds me of the pants Hammer used to wear. If this is traditional Fulani dancing, then Hammer got it from them & not vice versa.

Btw, I love the children walking in the beginning of the video. I also love the clothing, & remember this song from years ago. Thanks!

  • man he makes me love africa more and more! and his songs help me learn my native language much better. i will visit him soon in senegal. asalamilakim brotha

  • Sometimes i sincerely wish Africa spoke the same language so i could understand all the beautiful words sung by everyone. Luckily music has no language.

  • Am proud of you Baba.....

  • GREAT!!!!!!*****

  • entrainant mais je préfère sans la boite à rythme les trucs plus trad

  • One of my all time favorite songs, Baaba Maal is one of my heros.

  • @8stepsifu I agree regarding "American English and culture". As a proud, peach-colored US citizen, I add that the USA still EXISTS in large part because of contributions from Africa. Not just in music, but in our Top Notch military, our art, religion, education, our morality and justice, and everything (out of room here). Long live Baaba Maal, an amazing and blessed artist! May God grant health, peace, and prosperity to the children of Africa -- which are all of us. We are going to need it!

  • The last part of the song is missing though... which is bummer!

  • I wish some people would take the time to read the comments that are posted, properly before giving their opinions. the gentleman did not say the song was american. He said he was american, and expressed his love for baaba maal,s music, which he discovered several years ago.

  • Igual a Johny Laboriel, debe ser su hijo.

  • Baaba Maal and Mansour Seck are LEGENDARY!, can't believe I saw them at WOMAD.

  • I am American, and fell in love with Baaba Maal's music several years ago.. what I hear is a beautiful voice like no other, what I see is great spirit, love and joy. It doesn't matter that I can't understand the words, the music speaks for itself.

  • Glad to hear an American talking about african music and feeling love and joy from it.

    try listning to these songs:

Cler achel /Tinariwen Aman Iman ,

I Ka Barra :Habib Koité and Bamada, Nijaay :Orchestra Baobab,SabaliAmadou & Mariam.

Youm Wara Youm/Samira Sa'id Feat. Cheb Mami.

  • @SSwadis , I concur with you, he is one awesome and gifted singer/artist.

Much love my brother and I do hope to see you in Dakar soon.

  • @SSwadis We people from the world know that in your country live not only ignorant, greedy n egoistic people.

Nice that you are one of the open hearted n openminded people that realy bring a bit of comprehension n purpose of peaceful dialog in the world.

    Greatings

From all over the world, the one big soul*spirit of life

  • @SSwadis

Couldnt agree more, true art and aethistics is universal and knows no race, skin color, socioeconomic status, appearance, geographic or any external feature other than spirit.

  • the place in th ckip is close to my village in the north of senegal

Baaba Maal is the new Generation of universal human culture by promoting unjversality and beleive nicely in human being capacity to enhance the earth life

  • Wonderful! I really loved this track back in 1996 - I heard it on Matt Thomson's Kiss 102 radio station while revising for my exams! I'm English and cannot even understand it!! :o)

  • Wow....I love it.

  • This clip commands respect, it is raw culture that touches the soul.

  • VraiDiouF dont waste your time on this stupid american, its probably a 12 year old kid behind his screen, dont even bother replying its a waste of time.

  • shit i thought this was an mc.hammer remake lol

  • lol 0:20 MC HAMMER

  • i miss senegal soooooooooo much...i love this song, it was the it in the 90s..god love this man

  • Translation please anyone...

  • omg love it

  • To tell you the truth this ppl look just like ethiopian

  • We are not Ethiopian or Amhara we are Fulbe.

  • geee u'z a Diouf n u come here sayin dat u'z a pullo ? whateva

  • If you read my profile, my real name is not Diouf, learn to read

  • why the hell would I go n read ur lame profile as if i were a fan of urs ? go n play in da traffic dude

  • Then kindly don't comment about stuff you know nothing about.

  • when the fuck hav I ever commented on sthg i don't know anythin bout ? come on dude go get a life

  • You made an assumption that my real name is Diouf, that is something you don't know about. Making comments that don't even relate to you. Watch your mouth, clean it with soap.

  • well if u had not been so dumbass as to choose a username that doesn't relate 2 u I guess i wouldn't be here commenting on things that don't relate 2 me as u say now go to hell n get fucked by freddy mercury u retard

  • You can take your disrespectful American hatred elsewhere. In Fulani culture, we are respectful to others. I chose the username because El Hadji Diouf is my favorite Footballer (You americans call it soccer), and I have alot of respect for him. Grow up and learn some ethics.

  • I'm not going to bother answering an immature American child like you anymore. Sadly your parents did not bring you up with manners. You may want to stop using drugs.

  • Dumbass American..Write like normal people we know you'r language better than you do.Not all ghetto like you do. Dat? Seriously...

  • if i'm immature i don't know which word i should use to refer to you cuz ur by far worse than dat n i may add that i'm proud of my immaturity since it doesn't deprive me from my ability protect myself from pple's attacks n that kinda stuff.. i'm immature but i never resort to anybody's support when i'm involved in arguments feuds n things like that, n i've noticed with geat sorrow that the same doesn't go 4 u, U POOR PITIFUL LAME N WEAK CREATURE

  • Nice one Diouf i respect what you did when not instantly saying like "your mom or fuck you" unlike him
