@olavtorjus95 Masada is the name of the concept rifle that was released as the ACR. Gen 1 Masadas had the charging handle in the middle of the receiver. Gen 2 Masadas were forward and dual sided. It was not till Gen 3 of the concept that the charging handle looked and operated as current ACR.

@xEden1 interesting, why do think that. i can assure you that this rifle can be configured how ever you need it to be. sure you can put on a shorter barrel, and make it the size of a p90, but then you loose range, which is still needed even in an urban environment in-case you need to engage someone at 1-3 or 4 blocks away, accurately. if i understand your needs, i would opt you this rifle with a 12 inch or even 8 inch barrel , with a folding stock, in 6.8 spc or 6.5 Grendel .

I don't like the idea of making your arm exposed to the open breach when cycling a round or clearing a ftf/fte in the ACR. I'm pretty sure no other US military weapon in history is designed that way for a reason.

@HeroOfTime121 The XM8 project is entirely cancelled, and I don't think the military is going to purchase and outfit regulars with ACRs, plus the Army just last year began outfitting Rangers with SCARs.

if i recall magpul pretty much lent out the design of the Masada to bushmaster to make the gun, they are different, but barely, i think Bushmaster/Remington pretty much only made the caliber able to be changed, maybe a couple other small adjustments. making it the ACR as we know it, regardless its a kick ass gun, way better in real life than as portrayed in CoD. frankly i dont care who the hell made it but i want one cuz i have a coyote problem and i think this may solve it
I heard that they are going to pass a law that in order to play any first person shooting games in Cali you will need the games upgraded with a patch so that the guns shoot no more than 10 rounds per magazine and are all semi-automatic. But, uh, this one was renamed. It's the Bushmaster Adaptive Combat Rifle. Owned by Bushmaster now.
Lots of inventor's guns were renamed. Browning was a firearms genius but not a good salesman, so he would sell them to companies that could produce them. Browning invented the 1911. And it's called a Colt 1911 because Colt bought the production rights.
In Magpul's case, they handed the ACR over to a larger company for production, and part of the deal apparently was to rename it.
M1911 is still what he named it. It is, and forever will be the magpul masada. And for the record, this is still the magpul prototype version, therefore anyway you put it is masada. And this is a pointless debate, arguing over the rightful name of a rifle.

I heard that they are going to pass a law that in order to play any first person shooting games in Cali you will need the games upgraded with a patch so that the guns shoot no more than 10 rounds per magazine and are all semi-automatic. They even are kicking around making all the weapons on the game become pump action... yes I am being sarcastic.

isnt called the ACR because the US military wanted a new advanced combat rifle (ACR) To replace the m16/m4 weapon system. magpul wasnt the only ones entering, HK.....Steyr.......Armalite(i think)

@knpdyeballarice Well the SCAR and the ACR are rather high ranking players in the pool of potential replacements for the US armed forces but the US has been "looking" for a replacement for about 20 years now. I think with each subsequent year the odds of replacement are higher but I still doubt the military will leave the M-16/M-4 any time in the near future.

Were brownings guns completely renamed because he wasn't the one producing them? NO! Neither with John Garand, Kalashnikov, or many other designers. It is still the designer's gun, no matter who "actually" owns the rights to production.

Lots of inventor's guns were renamed. Browning was a firearms genius but not a good salesman, so he would sell them to companies that could produce them. Browning invented the 1911. And it's called a Colt 1911 because Colt bought the production rights.
In Magpul's case, they handed the ACR over to a larger company for production, and part of the deal apparently was to rename it.

M1911 is still what he named it. It is, and forever will be the magpul masada. And for the record, this is still the magpul prototype version, therefore anyway you put it is masada. And this is a pointless debate, arguing over the rightful name of a rifle.

I heard that the XM8's barrel would melt if you put any amount of sustained fire through it. I've also heard that H&K (I think I might be wrong) has taken steps to prevent this and is almost done with an XM8 whose barrel isn't like butter.
