  • speechless.....

  • Inspiring, certainly, but border line crazy too!

  • What's the prize for this competition?

  • These women are sick.

  • That was heart breaking and inspireing, I am running my first tri in sept. and I will most likely end the race like that.

  • A W E S O M E !

    I R O N W I L L S P I R I T!

  • I am amazed. I've never seen anything like this!

Admitted, they did look funny with those awkward walks, but theý sure did fight! Very inspiring...

  • Their effort and committment is admirable, but medically stupid! Not brave. There is no glory in stupidity. It's only a race.

  • that was for FOURTH?!?! ugh it woulda been cooler if it was for 1st they woulda taken each other's heads off

  • Consider the difference in intelligence in the following two comments (partly made up but matching the comments found here)

"Incredible! What a fantastic achievement! Truly inspiring!"

"LOL look how funny they walk D:D:D"

  • And I thought I had been wore out before during a race. I will never complain again.

  • 4th place!

  • Funny? I am in awe of the strength and courage these two women demonstrate and can only question if I had half their internal drive & commitment to reach a goal as they so powerfully demonstrate, naked for the world to see. I can only think of their integrity and conviction, and be humbled by it!

  • Seriously that was just incredibly dangerous, those runners should have been pulled out of the race before seriouslyl damaging their bodies like that.

  • No, no they shouldnt. It was thier race. They had to finish it.

Honestly, how would you feel if you were legs were giving out that close the finish line, and someone came up to you and said "No, your done. We are carrying you the rest of the way"

I would be damned sure I wasnt carried

  • more balls than anyone else on here.....phenomenal!

  • amazing...

  • Looks like they are running while trying to give birth

  • that is one of the funniest things ive ever seen ....."her stalker appers" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

they run like they've shat ther pants HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH

respect tho i'd never be able to run a mile never mind over 100 miles

  • Come on guys, I am a triathlete but I can laugh at this, it is kind of funny. Admirable too.

    BTW Ironman isn't a 100 mile run, it's a triathlon :)

  • Amazing athletes! 110% effort

  • for 4th and 5th place... right...

  • A day out from an olympic distance race, this video poses a great question to ask of myself when I feel like stopping..... What is my excuse!?

  • Now......that's what I call "giving it all you got!!!" In another situation, imagine yourself that your life is in danger. You would definitely give every ounce of your energy to save yourself. Same principle when it comes to winning.

  • truly inspiring, just a little more effort needed at the end. I bet they ached the next morning!

  • truly inspirational

  • insperational

  • WOW!!! That was really hard to watch!

  • Did they expend too much energy earlier on?

  • Pure determination. Much respect to these two ladies.

  • There are no limits only boundaries and we should get through it....

RESPECT for Sian Welch and Wendy Ingraham

  • Man that was kind of disturbing! I'm shocked that women in the top 5 would be so wrecked at the end :S I only saw 1 person collapse at IMC 2007! So, kinda strange anyways, I guess I'll know what it's like August 24th :D Joinin' the club then.

  • Pain is transitory, THE GLORY is ETERNAL. FULL RESPECT!

  • words of truth

  • Absolute guts & total determination,brilliant.

  • WELL DONE

  • god bless the pair of 'em. Full respect x

  • Proper hardcore, banty at it's best. True inspiration for anyone too drunk tryin' to walk home, they were sobre and done it.

  • I must respect your opinion if you think is silly but I must demand a bit of respect for those 2 athletes who happen to be pationate about something you will never understand.

    We triathletes do!

  • One of the funniest things I've seen in years - tears absolutely rolling down my face. :-D

  • Those are some amazing athletes. It is only funny if you don't have a clue what your watching.

  • Whats funny bout that?

  • oh jesus. wee wee is coming out of my eyes! That was funny as f**k. Well done ladies.

  • i have no idea how they can push them selfs so far! it's amazing!!!

  • Congratulations to absolutely all who finish an ironman are in order, be it Macca or the 16 hour die hard endurance brigade. I have much (if not more) respect for the family guy or gal with kids who puts in the training (up to 30 hours a week at peak periods), and just finishes, than some of the elites to whom I am in awe of at times (Olmpic marathon times after the bike? Wow.)

  • This is not funny. It's deadly serious, and serves as a warning to us that even experienced competitors can get the nutrition strategy wrong. Changing conditions, or higher humidity can really blow a tried and tested plan out of the water.

  • Finally an intelligent post!

  • salute...

  • I'm a world class squad triathlete and that was sooo funny! The best bit, 'her stalker appears!'

  • There was a horrific report of a competitor in IM Austria this year (2007) posted on a forum, where he woke up two days later in the intensive care unit in Klagenfurt hospital due to lack of salt.iswimfast - if you are indeed a world class triathlete, then you're also a complete buffoon and a poor advertisment for a superb sport that prides itself on encouraging participation, and where the last competitior home is applauded to the roof.

  • Since you're only 19 you can't have much (if any) long distance (IM) tris under your belt. This can happen to the best athletes in the world just read some of the race reports be it Spencer Smith or Faris Al-Sulltan. One day you'll have a bad race, and I hope for your sake someone isn't on the internet writing humiliating comments on you.

  • I have no distance tris under my race belt, i have had bad races and even a newspaper commenting on a terrible run performance when i was just 16. To be honest it made me show those who doubted me, i am not writing to humiliate them all i am saying it is what myself and several other world class athletes my age saw it as.

  • Dont quite understand how any of that related to my comment, i am not the only one who thought it was funny, i was shown this by a british junior champion and both found it funny rather than inspiring. Try Bevens run to the finish video, thats inspiring!

  • But you're the only triathlete that thought it was funny....

That having been said I wish you all the best in your racing career and I'll maybe see you at the races. Race strong.

  • my comment wasnt meant to take the piss, i was askin a serious question... they were both equally drunk lookin... surely theres somin wrong

  • I garauntee you have never done anything like this with the amount of effort and speed that these women did this race with

  • Obviously not enough gels and their race tactics were wrong. Sorry had to be said!

  • respect

  • god bless the pair of 'em. Full respect x

  • they were both determind women x

  • I met Wendy today.....she is truely an inspiration. The reason why her body was shutting down was because she had lost her salt tablets in the middle of the race. Her body was completly depleted. She is amazing......

  • Call me lazy, but here...fuck all that!

  • I live in Manly, Sydney, and watched Mucker destroy the field in the NSW Ironman Championships, this man is a machine!!! and cougieuk the Ironman does infact orginate from Southern Cali ( San Diego) ...Duffus

  • I'm from Sydney, I consider it the 'spiritual home' of the ironman because we have some of the best in the world and I think you'll find it was actually Southern California! You are obviously confused by my superior knowledge of ironman but that's okay. We're not all perfect like me!

  • Kenny/Mucker - you know b*gger all.

Ironman distance tri comes from Hawaii - just as i said. Can you find a site that says otherwise. And it was you who said it was Sydney originally. You changed your mind ?

  • That Ironman video you posted was'nt up to much! People crossing the line holding hands? At least they were'nt crawling i suppose..... DICKHEAD

  • Wow man, you are a legend in these parts. I'm from Sydney, Australia, the home of the iron man competition. I used to think us Aussies were tough until I saw you buddy. I had intended to film you at the last endurance race but you ran past so quick that I only got you disappearing over the hill. Keep up the good work man!

  • Cheers kenny, nice to hear from someone who knows what they are talking about UNLIKE THAT TOSSER QLENZ. Will be in OZ in January of next year for an endurance race. Look forward to your support! Who knows even Qlenz could be there if he can get his fat hairy hole of the chair. DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH!

  • Er so what records did you break at Belfast Marathon ?

The results are up on the web for all to see.

And your 'pal' Kenny - Sydney isnt the home of the Ironman competition - its Hawaii....

  • Dont you start dickhead! I SUGGEST YOU LOOK AT THE RESULTS YOU PRICK!!!

  • Bless - living an imaginary world where you have decent results eh ?

Are you John Mutal, Stephen Ndungu or Aton Pototskyy then ? If not - you arent even top three and decent women runners could beat you.

  • Is that 'Mucker', the legendary long distance runner from Northern Ireland who broke all records at the recent Belfast marathon?

  • If you watch closely, the guy in the green shirt hits her with a poison dart! Sodium depletion my arse!

  • I agree with Qlenz. Ironman is lost on most people. Mostly the people who enter it! Stick a hoover in her hand and she'd get up quick enough the fanny !!

  • I DONT TAKE PART IN ORGANISED RUNS

  • Why didn't they just run across the line like everyone else?

  • because they were at the end of a 200 mile race..you ever been so physically exhausted you can't move your limbs and tried to run?

  • its not 200mile :( its like 140 odd.

  • amazing

  • bollocks

  • oh wow what an inspiration

  • wow! all for fourth place!

  • I love this 1 been looking for this. looks like the one cheats and gets in the way.

  • WOW...I cried a tear when I saw this, I cramped up at the end of my only marathon to date and yes 200 yards might as well be 200 miles. These two girls were incredible, truly inspirational.

  • SPEECHLESS!

  • Can't even imagine! Let alone comment!

  • AMAZING.

  • wow...

  • simply too much

  • Magnifique

  • increible!!!
