Either he already has it equpped or he doesn't have enough credits

so he could buy power nodes. The upgrades on your weapons (and maybe your suit, I'm not sure) transfer over into the next game on that difficulty if you play through again on the same save slot

LOL... And here's a tip for you... DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you go around offering people 'tips'.  Walkthroughs typically offer help and strategies by those experienced with playing a video game. That's what defines it as a 'walkthrough'. You 'walk' the 'viewer' through the game. A walkthrough with commentary does not become a "Let's Play" simply because there is commentary. Let's Plays are commonly first runs through a video game. This is not my first run through Dead Space.
