  • jos joku täällä tuntee semmosen pelisarjan kuin Sid Meier's Civilization pelit, niin on varmaan samaa mieltä kuin minä, että suomen kansa kuuluisi olla siinä mukana.

  • Finn vets did not get the respect they deserved until collapse of Soviet Union - ours (Brits) did - but at least Finns never suffered the fate of the Poles and Czechs who fought for us - Finns protected their homeland the best they could and survived - the only ones who did from such a predicament (rest became part of Soviet Union)

  • Hyvä kun kerrot aina alussa Suomalaisen ja Saksalaisen hakaristin eron.

  • now I know where the song in the officer's drunk scene in the Unknown Soldiers comes from!

  • But remember; of those countries participating in the WWII in Europe, only 3 capital cities were never occupied: London, Moscow and Helsinki...

  • @wovaapeli And, Moscow may not have been occupied, but german scout troopos entered its outskirts.

  • Finland was forced to fight the germans in Lapland by the soviets. Even if it might sound strange, the germans were voluntarily leaving the northern part of Finland, but this was not enough for the soviets. Instead they forced us finns to a third conflict during WWII, and this time against Germany.

  • @wovaapeli @MagnificentBurger Yeah, sorry about that, got it a bit wrong.

  • @TheAlmightyPiePower It's fine, I hadn't been aware that they fought the Germans at all! Really, I should thank you because I otherwise wouldn't have known that.

  • @TheAlmightyPiePower : Finns had to betraye Germans (forced by the Soviets) . This the reason I am not bitter for Lappland burning.

  • When did Finland fight Nazi Germany? They were supplied by Nazi Germany... The tanks they used? German. Those anti-tank weapons you see three men carrying? Panzerfausts, they're German. The Germans assisted them in their defense against Russia, the Finnish assisted the Germans in attacking Russia.

When did they fight Nazi Germany?

  • @MagnificentBurger To start with, Finland did little to help the Nazi invasion of Russia, many of the things the Germans wanted they refuessed to do, and planned peace with the USSR once they took back their stolen land.

After the 2nd war inwhich Finland tried to take back lost land the Finns demanded the Germans leave their territory, the Germans in Lapland (Northern Finland) did not beggin leaving and the Finns were forced into a 3rd war to drive them out of the North.

  • @TheAlmightyPiePower Finland helped with the initial invasion of Russia, largely, yes, to take back their land. The Lapland war was started largely because of Russia, who did not wish for the Germans to leave Finland at their own pace. In fact, they only really helped in the fight against Nazi Germany at all because of the Moscow Armistice, which the Russians imposed on them.

  • @MagnificentBurger Yeah Im pretty sure Germany and Finland were allied in ww2.

  • @logic8368 At some point yes, but notice the Molotov-Ribbentrip treaty in which Germany effectively "sold" Finland to the USSR. These two countries split Europe in that treaty for each other to be conquered. So Finland fought the Winter War without being in any alliance. There were volunteers from other countries but that was it, no official help from anyone. Finland did not believe that the USSR would not attack again, and so it was natural to join the alliance with the other side.

  • @reshjuk Ribbentrop... sorry for the typo.

  • @MagnificentBurger Notice that Finland fought the Winter War in 1939-1940 without being in any alliance. Germany "sold" Finland to the USSR in the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty. I regard that as a hostile act by Germany towards Finland. But after the Winter War Finland guessed that the USSR would attack again, and we got no help from others, so Germany was a natural ally at that point when they had become the enemy of the USSR. They were not enemies in WW II to begin with.

  • parempi suomi on vapaana ku ryssie vallas

  • Se on liian huono, Venäjä oli mukava Suomi ennen vallankumousta...

    Eläköön Suomi, myötä-ja vastoinkäymisissä!

  • @L0banov Nope, the Nikolai II tried to make Finnish people to russians.

We like more the Alexander I. Finland is better without Russia.

  • @FINwarfare It is true the Russians gave Finland semi-independance before Nikolas || , but even if they did, it's better to have full liberty then to have a situation where your in an empire with only semi-liberty.
