For the dumb asses that know NOTHING about Oregon winters, we get black ice, a lot more than you get on the east coast. I have had friends from Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and NY say "It's easy to deal with snow, but I will not drive in the ice Oregon gets." because that's all we get. We don't get the nice fun snow everyone else gets in the US.
@johnnyponny4 I love how people will find any way to say americans are stupid. Have of america is covered in snow half the year at least. They are better drivers in snow and ice than any one. How ever, Portland is not a city where snow is common. On top of that portland gets wet slick snow with a few inches of ice under it. In short, use chains here or don't drive. Just like the difference between vancouver british columbia and toronto. Secondly, our snow is not powder. Driving in snow is not hard. Come to the NW, you have to be retaught.
