do you have to seal a gate at the same time u close it?? or, in case you don't have enough clues, you can close it, wait for an ally to bring you clues, and then seal it??
@Kieik You may just close a gate. But you can't have someone else "bring you clues" to seal it. Either you close it and seal it yourself, or you just close it. Usually, you'll want to seal when possible, but there are advantages to just closing a gate; if the open gates are getting close to the limit, or if you are going for a victory by having all gates removed.
Then u have to close and seal at the same time. it is not possible to close, go for clues, get back to the place where the gate was and seal it, righ?
@Kieik That's correct. When you return from an Other World, you gain an explored token, meaning you can close (and if able, seal) that gate, but as soon as you leave a location you lose the explored token.
Do monsters in the sky look for the lowest base sneak or sneak + factors of your items, etc. Really considering buying this game for me and my buddies.
@Haseo2010 Items are always considered optional to use... for example, when fighting monsters, you don't have to use your weapons. So it's up to you as far as whether you would want an item's Sneak bonus to apply. But I believe that Skill bonuses would apply, and presumably also bonuses from Allies, though I'm not 100% sure about that.
Thinking about buying this (Really expencive... I've seen it go for $120 dollars)
I love how harmless and malicious the game can just outright be. That Vampire earlier was not too much of a big deal, but some of these other cards are just outright malicious.
Plus I am a big fan of Co-op games over competative.
At the bottom of that rumor card it said "Activity at:". I know this means you place one of those activity tokens in the stated area underneath, but what do these do?
Similar to my earlier question in the movement tutorial, what happens when there are more than one flying monster? To they all attack or just one at a time.
Do 'sky' monsters only attack in the monster (mythos) movement phase? Or, do players encounter the sky bound monsters during the player movement phase? Since sky connects all the street areas, similar to when ground monsters are waiting there. In which case player movement would be interupted too. The latter is the my interpretation.
@Jeorney They don't "attack", but if they move during the Mythos Phase, then they all move to investigators in streets (if any). On the next turn during the Movement Phase the investigators would have to either Evade them or fight them.
@Grudunza Thanks. Would they only move in from the sky area when investigators are in the Street Areas & their symbol comes up? I think I saw something about that in the f.a.q. pdf at Fantasy Flight Games - I can't remember if you mentioned it as well.
@Jeorney Yes, that's right. Typically, monsters only move if their symbol comes up. And in the case of sky monsters, even then they might not move if there are no investigators in street locations.
1. If monster surge appears should i add one doom token to the ancient one's sheet?
2. If flying monster moves does it move to first street from location and then look for any investigators in adjacent streets and then move to them or if not - fly to the sky. Or they move to the first street from location if there is an investigator and if not - fly to the sky?
1. If mnsters appear as a result of mythos card. Like 2 monsters appear in Downtown. They are removed immediatly after mythos phase if there were no investigators or they stay on the board until next mythos phase?
2. Investigators can have as many items as they get? Because i got maybe 10 items throughout the game and it was too much for me :)
1. Monsters appearing from a Mythos card stay on the board.
2. There is no item limit. The only thing to watch for is the hand limit when using certain weapons and spells. Yeah, it can be a bit much to keep track of all the items you might end up with!
To further clarify #1, those monsters are not removed at the next Mythos phase... they are permanently part of the game at that point (well, unless you can kill them or otherwise remove them).
The only time monsters appear and do not remain is through encounter cards where it says "A monster appears!", but they do remain if they appeared along with a gate ("A gate and a monster appear!").
Sorry for being such annoying. But to clarify #1. Ok mythos card is taken, gate is placed monster appeared on a gate. And then headline says for example a secret basement opens letting out two monsters on Downtown streets. So those monsters leave in game until they are killed or removed when the gate with their symbol is removed?
Those are the same ones as the Investigator stands. I don't know how many are included with the base game, but once you have an expansion or two, you should have plenty left over to use for the monsters.

thanks for the videos, really helpful!

Does there only have be one mythos card in play or can there be a rumor card, environment, and headline in play, at once?
LouisNavor 6 months ago
@LouisNavor Yes. One of each of those can be in play together.

Since Ithaqua's effect ignores the weather changes, does this mean the effect from the first card remains in play?

@magikaru It just refers to whatever the rumor or headline says, which takes place at that location.

I have a few questions.
Please answer if you can.
LeBrunia 1 year ago
@LeBrunia
1. No. A doom token is only added when a new gate is added to the board.
2. They either move to an investigator in an adjacent street location, or they move to the Sky.
