chuck norris should proud of you,lol \m/

i was wondering whats your malmsteen strat year made?

    please reply :)

    merci

  • Hi

    Thanks very much!!!!!

My malmsteen strat was made in 2006. So its got the regualr scallop depth unlike the 2008 updated model which has deeper scallops. Mine also doesnt have the bullet truss rod and i think the 2008 does.

From reading and experience i cant see how a deeper scalloping can do much cus when your not touching the fretboard it doesnt matter how deep it us under it.

    Thanks again!!!!

    Keep PLAYIN' LOUD

    Ben

  • thanks for the information,

does it affect the tone/sustain (bullet truss rod) ?

btw, my friends is going to sell his yjm candy apple '89(excellent condition) approximately $1200

i dont know if its worth or not(i was hesitant to buy it), i dont know much about fender yjm strat '89

what do u think about it dude? :) help me

    FYI, check out this vid

(keyword : Mayzan try his 1972 Marshall JMP 50 with grey DOD 250)

he got malmsteen's TONE too,he got the closest compare to malmsteen,IMHO

  • Hi

i dont think the bullet truss rod really does anything to be honest certainly not the tone. 1989 ones is the 2nd year of production for YJM's. does it have the large 70s headstock or the 50's small one?

Either way thats a vintage guitar and the old ones are nearly always better. I heard that the origanal YJM strat were made to order so that people could even specify there scallop depth. 1200 is about the goin rate for them but an old one would be worth more than a current one.

  • checked out that guy before hes got the malmsteen tone to a fine art. Ive got the dod yjm and 250 reissue but not the grey. His setup is nearly the same as the god himself.

If you want any more info dont hesitate to ask my friend!

    PLAY LOUD!!!

    Ben

  • Really good technique dude

does this strat stays in tune?

    thx

  • Hi

    Thanks

Yeh it does stay in tune really well. My 70s reissue strat does aswell. It takes a while to get the tremolo set up right and break the guitar in but after some hard playin and some good adjustments of the trem theres no reason why its no worse than a floyd rose.

Check Peelick's channel for a great guide about setting up your strat. His tremolo is insane!!

    PLAY LOUD

    Ben

  • Hey

    Thank you for the advice

    Really appreciate !

  • Thats as close as i've heard anybody get, outside of Yngwie himself!!! I take it you tried those things i told you about...

  • Wow

    Thanks so much!

Yeh i did. At first it didnt make a massive difference bu then after playin it a bit with the changes its really good. Removing a spring and just having 2 makes it play alot nicer too.

    Thanks again

    PLAY LOUD!

    Ben
