  • are you a freemason?

  • Lets keep the areas in Schedule 4 protected for our future generations. Irrespective of the mining method used the end result is permanent damage to what are meant to be our most prized natural features.

  • During the third reading of the bill creating Schedule 4 in 1997, Nelson MP and Environment Minister Nick Smith, told Parliament that conservation areas were "no-go areas" for mining.

Added Dr Smith: "This is landmark legislation for the conservation movement in New Zealand. I welcome the bill's progress and, as Minister of Conservation, look forward to not having to consider mining applications in those areas where nature should be able to rule the roost."

  • Dear John. Please don't open up Schedule 4 land for mining. The mines already operating in NZ are surely enough. I want our beautiful Aotearoa to remain beautiful and green for generations to come.

  • The issue is mining Schedule 4. Don't mine schedule 4 - the National Party developed the legislation that created schedule 4.

  • I'm so proud of John for having the common sense to consider mining. We have so much natural resources going to waste, which if used well, would create a lot of jobs and really help out New Zealand economy.

  • John, I'm so dissapointed in you and the National government for considering mining in NZ's national parks. Please reconsider.

  • Julian Robertson was wrong about both Mr Key and Barack Obama
