  • Everyone Watch my vid for high side kick tutorial xD altho its not great quality but bare with me xD

  • lol...i'm going for a front kick...(just kiddin'!) XD!!

  • Wtf? 0:11 "Another basic kick.. Sidekick." *fast but quiet sound of impact against a pad*

  • that seem a roundhouse kick.... it's better than you do it like side kick in TaeKwonDo it's efectiver :D :D but this it look with technique... congrats

  • I myself have trained for years and hours straight different types of sidekicks with a real thought of what im doing. Trying different shit out many times against a bag etc. And what i found out that the JKD side kick is the most hardest to understand and do right but its insanely more faster and stronger than any other side kick u can possibly do. Peace. Go ahead man. Try it. U got the power and gift to do it right. Good luck.

  • Nice. But u dont seem to use your hip at all when u kick. And wtf u talking about important to lean backwards when u kick and extend ? Ofc. u automaticly lean backwards when u hit what u wanna hit but the MAIN THING is to go thrue and forward and think about all the time going forward with FULL FORCE. U ever heared about the worlds most devasting side-kick ? JKD-Sidekick that bruce made "famous". Now thats brutal force and fast as fuck :D

  • @Sheikkailija You apparently missed the main post that wasn't too you. I do NOT use this form of the Sidekick in Fighting. This is the TRICKING way of doing it for forms and Tricks, NOT combat! And you are not the only one who spent years on the bag- in fact, on a bag that is twice my weight. And I have seen and trained on the original 400 lb bag that Bruce Lee had. It resides in my Uncle's dojo. You really have no clue about myself nor any of my training but wish to infer otherwise.

  • @Sheikkailija oh btw JKD is kinda mixed from alot of principles so i guess its diff from this one its not really wise to compare one teaching from another

  • Woah, my Apologies to anybody that I may have offended. Apparently the new YouTube format took out a lot of my old descriptions, so it is not in the Notes stating it is only for Tricking. Regardless, it is still for Tricking. If you want to bash someone's Art, go do it somewhere else. I have no room for people that choose to Disrespect anybody's Art when they try to reach out to others. You don't like it, then teach it yourself since it's better to spread Art than just judge it.

  • @SykoDragon respect peoples...if u rly are trickers(oh this is for the people with nothing to do but annoy peoples vids) do ur own thing and opinions are okay but trashing their teaching is a waste of time..

  • None of you have any idea of what kind of sidekick I can throw, nor what power I can accrue from it. That type of prejudice and assumption is what will make you fail when it comes time to use it or upon someone you think cannot use it. I learned my Tricking Kicks from those who have done Tricking years beyond what I have in it and are at the top of their Art. Good luck training.

  • Wow...first off, a lot of you don't even bother reading descriptions. This technique is for TRICKING! If you actually look at the other tutorials, I mention this and note that I do NOT use these techniques when fighting. I am a Fighter first, and if these tutorials are not for you with an interest in Tricking, then get lost and keep your shitty comments to yourself before passing judgement on someone you really know nothing about. I don't teach Fighting on here.

  • im not 1 for dissing peoples progress in martial arts but mate you are all wrong not only that but your but your basically sayin its good to do techniques wrong! which is wrong! i mean bro fakin a front kick into a side kick is beginner stuff man! the best thing yo

  • Haha thought u were going to break dance.. but i wrestle so i guess ill watch your master lock series..

  • Watch this for proper side kick. 4j1w--TjqVY

  • Yeah this is a cross between round house and side kick. No power. More of a snap than power kick the way you are doing it.

  • @CASteel1 i agree hes cuttin corners. technique is all wrong no power your knee should be chambered back as close to your chest as possible but like he says he doesnt care he wants to look good! poser!

  • Hey guy you cant kick, I'll make a video of a real sidekick, that looks like a round house. dont teach something you dont know.

  • U don't work opening Hips... the side Kick in this case is like a circular..Hips have to work when u push up with leg....prepare....close hip..Kick open hip.....back kick is ok but for side kick you still have to work a few.....U have a very good phisical structure and with other work in this way You'll be able to become a very Huge side Kicker

  • sanshou side kick is safest to use in kickboxing/MMA matches. wats this have to do with the vid? idk

  • you talk a bit too much

  • you must be a good fighter :) what type of martial art is it??

  • what i use was you know those foot rests i stack on top of a wall and i stretch my legs on top of it and sorta hook ur legs on top of it if u get more flexible i stack more and more

  • Im front... Im side.. XD LOL funny I know what you mean, very important in tournaments - good tutorial ^^ice - good tutorial ^^

  • This vid is very informative but you need to re-upload it more compressed! Its so damn slow!

  • i actually thought this waz for the cellphone sidekick but still nice

  • what works best back leg or front leg

  • thats a common misconception that a lot of people have about martial arts. the answer really is, nothing is better than anything else. you may find that the back leg is better for you, while the front leg is better for someone else. not everyone is the same, and the best thing is whatever you do best, or what you feel the most comfortable with. and btw, great vid. I'm really good with my upper body, but my kicks are sub-par, so I'm trying to work on them. Thank for posting this.

  • your flexibility and muscle control is amaizing, nice vid

  • Your kicks are beutiful and inspiring but would'nt you get more power from rotating the hip just before impact?

  • He tells it, and he does it, only you don't see the rotation via the angle of the camera. If you however listen to what he says you understand clearly that he advice on using it also to not lose balance and have more power on the delivery.

  • ur video is gonna help win the martial arts tournament thanks for posting this video

  • this is a gayage(or however you write it):P its the snap side kick from shotokan. not de side kick from tkd(yop chaggie)

  • yoko/sokuto-geri keage. ;-)

  • hehe:P yeah your right, i,m not that good at spelling words...lol..but thanks for the rigth spelling

  • It's a good kick for tournaments. Side snap kick is fast, while side thrust kide is powerful, if you combine the both you can have a side kick similar to what Bruce Lee used and the creator of this video seems to use. In fact doing the kick this way (uniting both snap and thrust) is much better than both usual snap and usual side thrust, because it's faster and less telegraphic and lose (if it lose) very little from side thrust, and so it is much better above all for real fights.

  • your side kicks look a little like round kicks, good control though. thanks for the vid

  • beautiful kicks mate

  • from a soft style point of viev if you dont have your knee pointing stright twards or away from the person you kicking and they to a kick defence technique on it it can collapse your knee side ways thus giving you knee problems for life.....

  • are you going to fight another martial artist in a situation in which messing up some one's knee is ok? like a hollywood style kung fu street fight?

  • lol what? who knows maybe some day i will but i dont plan on it

  • great vids mate!

  • im just starting and these are great thanx man =]

  • that side kick was a tkd kick cause he holds his feet back in

  • nice kick i can tell that you have been training either tae kwon do or karate they have these kinds of side kicks

  • amature, ya cant tell the diference, well i can the diference is that karate hits with the heel and tkd with the edge of the foot, and for your information sidekick is used in many stiles just like round house and front kick they r basic.

  • its not amature iv known karate and tkd for long time i just havent spend much time with them and i know that the side kick you did is karate becuz i notice how u used your foot

  • A very thorough guide that covers nearly all aspects of the side kick and even many qualities which are neglected by teachers.

  • Im just a beginner and ive been watching kick tutorials here all night. i couldn't agree more with you about kicking with one fluid motion rather than the knee up twist and extend. it seems too much time is wasted trying to be mechanical with so many movements. and yes, kicking with your toes back.there were too many people here saying kick with the ball of your foot.

  • Good job. I enjoyed watching this video alot. Do you stretch traditionally (static)?

  • lol, you like to kick with the blade/knife edge of your foot... good blade kick to the neck can kill ^_^ Nice kicks for tricking! I do for martial arts and starting tricking and i have one question, for multi side kicks, how would you get faster combination speed for both tricking and for MA? Would it be the way you described in the other vid?

  • I always forget to mention how there are different ways of training, and these videos are just one way that I have trained. I like variety, and being able to change one's own way of training/application of something is more useful than doing it in only one way. It helps with becoming Adaptable to any situation.

  • Of course! You have to train alot to get that hip goin'. But i practice to get the most out of my sidekicks so. but you are correct in fast combos it's hard no doubt.

  • twist the hip! twist the hip! >_o

  • thx for posting this, what kind of martial art do you learn?

  • Why don't I show you my drink 10 pints of lager and smash you over the head with a bar stool technique? lol

  • Just wondering why to do sidekick as a trick. I personally don´t find a sidekick a very flashy kick, apart from a vertical sidekick. But I have only seen a few people able to do that. But hey that´s just my opinion

  • It's mostly for a Basics...Flying Side, plus some various spin side kicks and all, that's all. If you can't do the kick on the ground correctly (flashy, mind you), then you can't do it in the air properly.

  • Wow, it's been awhile since I've commented on comments...I dunno why people think this is the ONLY way I kick...I used to have to KEEP clarifying that this is for TRICKS not for APPLICATION. If you want application, there are plenty of books and resources for you to look into. I'm too busy nowadays to make any vids about application, I Apologize. Good Luck Training!!

  • In the Shotokan style, what you did was a side snap kick (where the toes keep pointing forward).

I'm having some trouble kicking that way cause my hips kind of 'get in the way' & there's some pain there. I work hard on side splits, but I get a pain in the hips & the outer leg. What can I do to improve it??

  • Thanks a lot for covering several side kicking techniques! You seem to have broad knowledge & good flexibility to execute them.

  • i dont agree with yoiu people you have to know were to hit with diff techniks

  • showy way? show me the real way. ive been using the showy way to crack skolls since i saw this sexy vid.

  • before i start i just want to say i don't mean to critize you lol. You're doing it in a showy way, an example is how you turned your foot in when doing side kick, if you hit someone with that part of your foot you'd break your foot. Also you want to turn your upper torso and look over your shoulder so people can see your back.

  • HAHA!! Yup, these vids were meant to do them the "showy" way. It's for tricks, not application. If I were to do one on application, it'd be MUCH more extensive, and it'd be much longer. Thanks for the 411! I haven't been on here in AGES!!

  • Martial arts is not meant to be something flashy. Your chamber should come all the way to the side- i.e.- when you do your kick to the viewers' right [your left in the video], your kicking leg's knee should be pointed directly at the camera, instead of at the angle. You have very good leg speed, but if you do the correct chamber and worry more about proper application instead of flash, you could probably have pretty powerful kicks.

  • useful tutorial, thnx! plus, you're also hot. :p

  • im the lamp in the background, and i told him to wear that shirt.

  • Also, kicking waist HIGH increases the power.

  • Leaning back defeats the physics of the kick. Forward momentum and torque from the hips gives the kick power. Pull the knee closer to the body, stay as vertical as possible and pivot the base foot to help throw the body's weight into the kick. Leaning back throws your weight away from the kick. Also, kicking waist increases the power.

  • lmao why did i think u were gonna whip out the SIdekick Phone?

    LMAO

  • Syko love your videos, you're into tricks and not self-defense, sparring etc. so your side kick looks cool. But for alot of power you want to lean back when you extend your foot so that there's a straight line from the top of your head to the bottom of your foot.

  • a good teaching tip for side kick is to make sure they pivot there non kicking foot and telling them to pull there knee back instead of there foot. the more u pull your knee back the more power u have. your side kicks kinda look like round kicks but for round kicks tell them to point the knee at there target, snap the kick then pull there foot back.

  • Damn there are so many "negative nancys" here!!

I think its a good tut. not organized, but good. and i agree with him on the ways to perform it with maximum efficiency etc.

  • Lose the couch!!! Jeez, do this in front of a wall or in a DOJO, you look like a hack.

You look like a goofy kid playing actor in moms living room.

What you are doing is so anoying, so unprofessional and so below amateur I could not watch it.

Someone take the camera away from this moron. He needs to be stopped.

I challenge you to a fight.

  • Yeah, he should totally move his mothers whole fucking sofa to give a 8 minute demonstration on kicks. Show us better kicks then.

  • Your side kick sucks. You have to chamber it and kick from the hip. Your kick is weak, you just stick it out. Your kick can be jammed, you suck.

    Your technique is embarassing.

  • Maybe just me but if you would chamber your leg by bringing your knee closer to your chest you would get more power.

  • Well, maybe it's just me, but I'm not going for Power, but for looks. And maybe it's for Basics than for trying to show what I can do...but Thanks, I guess.

  • Come on man. No disrespect. I am not the greatest martial artist in the world but it looks to me like your doing a round kick everytime. A side kick is like you are stomping something on the ground but you are doing towards something.

  • You should really check the angles first. Round kicks are arched to attack from outside; side kicks are direct-line kicks. The differentiation has to do with angle of attack- I switch the angles a bit.

Do some more research on it and there are 2 requirements to a side kick that are almost universal: kicking leg is to the side of the body; the foot is at LEAST parallel to the ground (mostly with toe down), done by pushing the hip down. After that, different MAs do them in different ways.

  • Excellent, nice explainations and demonstrations.

  • Your basic side kick at the beginning looks more like a side-blade kick. Other than that it's a pretty good tutorial.

  • good stuff!!!

  • Wow you have no momentum in your sidekick. You want to launch yourself at them not chamber. You lose all of your god damn power. I weight 180 pounds and I have really really strong legs from hockey and when I kick the heavy bag with somone behind it they go flying back several feet and say holy shit thats crazy as fuck. Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do side kick is the most powerful.

  • You know, people should read other comments that I post before posting. THIS ISN'T FOR POWER- IT'S FOR TRICKING!! I used to train on a 250 lb bag all the time, kicking it almost horizontal to the ground. This has NOTHING to do with Power or Application! I guess it's more my fault (I should be more specific in my description, not just the tags).

  • No body reads anything, and everyone expects everything to be like you see on tv. Sad. People think thats the best you have just because its on a video, what morons. perfect isnt a requirement, damn. Good vid

  • if you can do better, post ur own vid.

  • lol still a sick video, thanks for explaining. that's pretty sick to, i do TKD and my instructor studied ITF and WTF as well as Kenpo and Shotokan too, so we're pretty mixed in my place. but i watched ur video again and yea i dunno why i said your other stuff but it's pretty kool. i jsut don't do the trick stuff, lol

    PEACE

  • LoL! No prob Dude! Thanks Again for commenting- I always Appreciate other views!

Yea, I never used to do the Trick stuff either until a few years ago, really. It was Interesting to transition!

Hey, is that you in the video on your profile?? AWESOME Flying Side!! Thanks Again for Commenting!

  • you have nice control, but you lack power, are off center, and your kicks still look like round kick. you back kicks also just look like really bad spinning hook kicks. no offense intended. what style do you do?

  • Haha! I wasn't going for Power in these videos but rather a "Tricking" Technique. I know I had to brush up on the Technique (I was using these vids to help retrain myself- read the description). They look like Roundkicks cause of the angle of extension with the knee positioning more to the front and the kick straight forward and up, not like chambering from the side more- this way is less telegraphed as opposed to a more Powerful version (I do both depending on the situation).

  • The spinning kicks were spinning side kicks, not backs and still using the "Tricking" version, NOT too much for Powerful. I have other tutorials for Hook Kicks.

These tutorials are also made for "Tricking," not really Application, the change in technique ever-so-slightly is for LOOKS, NOT APPLICATION. I threw in a few pointers FOR fighting, but not too many.

  • As for styles- I don't train anymore, except on my own for the past few years. I used to train in Kempo, Shotokan, Kickboxing, and about a month of Tricks TKD with my friends.

Thanks for the Comment!! And don't worry, I don't take offense to anything!! ^_^

  • The shuffle is not necessary it is merely a means to close distance similar to a boxers' footwork.I've also been on the recieving of many side kicks whether ins a fight or training and the JKD style is proved in many eyes to be the difference between a 44 magnum and a bb gun they both hurt but one clearly has more power

  • The objective of my kick is lethal force or deabilitating force. The catalyst is not momentum but angle and direction.Permenant injuries not merely stopping them. You are crisp I'll give you that much.

  • I Understand, and Thanks!! To neglect angle and direction is obviously less stabilizing in combative situations...My tutorials here are, though, for Tricking (not intended for combat purposes). I think I forgot to mention that in the descriptions of my tutorials (they're in my Tags, though). Thanks for the comments!!

  • This style of kicking lacks power study my style it is the Jeet Kune Do style

  • If you're refering to the Shuffle Side Kick taught in JKD that generates a lot of power through momentum, or the snapping kick to the knee- I already know about them.

You may claim this style of kicking lacks power, but you can tell that to the many people I've crumpled over with it, and those I've launched into the wall several feet behind them (without shuffling- from stand still)- all without throwing full power. ^_^

  • nice vid
