  • i have grown up singing in sacred harp. i was 6 when i lead for the first time with my grandpa and this was the song i picked. i have always loved it

  • Doesn't sound nearly as good being sung by liberal atheist yankees as it does being sung by its proper singers - good Bible-believing God-fearing conservative Southrons.

  • hahahaha

  • it is wrong to judge. don't condem them for singing this song. it was beutiful none the less

  • @FaSoLalabama

Sarcasm noted, but still a thumbs up because what you say is true.

  • @FaSoLalabama You're right! I've sung with these atheist groups, and it's all a bit cold and four-square eventhough they sing well. When my fellow singers discovered I actually believe the words, I quickly became persona non grata.

  • Philip Doddridge wrote an Advent hymn entitled Hark, the Glad Sound! that we sing every year. (Lutheran-ELCA). It is to the tune of CHESTERFIELD by Thomas Haweis. It can also be sung to DIE HELLE SONNE by Sigmund Gottlieb Staden. Did you all know this? Any posts of it.

  • i've loved this song ever since i heard it from lomax's tapes. it's a shame the mic isn't in the best place for it. i'd rather hear it all from the center. omni-directional style. thanks for posting it!
