I grew up in Bushwick when it was mostly Italian American and German American. Local people can no longer afford to live in Bushwick because prices are sky high due to "hipsters" who pretend to be artists. I grew up in the projects in Bushwick and I'm also glad to see that the neighborhood is improving. It's time to do away with the ghetto atmosphere and bring in some class. Yes, poorer people who cannot keep up with the Joneses will be displaced, but it's absurd to try to fight progress. It's good to be forced to take the responsibility to try for a better lifestyle. My main issue is that all of a sudden, the "improvements" are coming to my neighborhood. Prior to the influx of new residents, the police NEVER patrolled with the regularity that they do now.
