I spoke with a camera expert and repair man and he said anything over 3MP is not so much about quality but size, say if you wanted to print out huge posters, you'd get finer quality with 8MP. You're not going to use your cell phone for taking those kind of pics. Cell phone cams are more of a convenience, not a photographer's ideal.

Okay, I hope you can excuse my previous comment but what I mean is that a 3 megapixel camera isn't amazing in year 2009. However I've also heard that the iPhone camera has a good white balance and so on. But I think that it's strange that the crowd goes wild when the guy announces that the camera has got just ONE megapixel better than the previous version.

Yea i see what you mean but we are all happy because its an iphone with all that you know and now with a camera that you can use to take pictures, the camera before was bad not because of the mpx but because of not having auto focus etc. But 3 mpx is just something extra.
