The general public really needs to be educated, without media bias, on oil dispersants. The particular dispersants being used in the Gulf are not classified as hazardous materials. They are not classified as carcinogens. In fact, they are no more "toxic" than that spray bottle of Formula 409 sitting under your sink.
The common misconception is that the dispersant attaches itself to the oil and sinks to the bottom of the sea. If you really think that's what happens, you need to do more research
