0 AD was an excellent time for Rome. The third Caesar was ruling and the empire was the ever efficient, power house it would ever be. If anything, Rome was on its rise to european/african/middle eastern dominance.

What the Jews would have used would be the Hebrew calendar, which starts at the supposed start of human kind when they were created by god on the sixth day of creation. The year 0 AD would have been year 3760 in the Hebrew calendar.

Zero AD came just after Rome drew a sigh of relief that things were looking peaceful again at last. And they were: the few wars over the next hundred or so years were fought very much on Rome's terms. Unless you want to make a game around the massacre of Varus's legions in 9 AD which lasted for only a couple of days, it would be hard to think of a less promising starting point.

To elaborate on what Arbiter6 said the Roman Empire grew to its peak in 117 AD under the rule of Trajan, and kept the Gaul and Germanic tribes in check until about 395 AD.

Graphics are poor, Scenario looks basic and probably historically incorrect since 0 or 1 AD was still a period of rise for Rome (not of decline).

All very cheesy if you ask me. I could believe this video was made by a talented amateur. Not a game studio.

I believe this "trailer" was made in 2002 as development was still only in the planning stages. For a 2002 pre-rendered video, I think it looks decent, but it is currently not representative of the game.
