  • He forgot the "sticksound" you know what I mean...... check out tutorials on youtube and you will see the effect and I promise that it makes the sonk 2 times harder. (:

  • good job!

  • why does everybody from this academy play the high-hat with their left hand?

  • I was asking myself the same quetion...That position is uncomfortable.

  • Ya, and it hurts the timing

  • what's the name of the drumset?

  • Well done kid. Finally. A drumming video with boss tunes. You did well my young apprentice. :)

  • 1:34 drum fill is weak...i play it better and i dont even play drums...u were also off time alot but that understandable in this song...other than that u did a great job

  • Well if you play it better then post a video.

  • Not trying to be a nit picker, but that's way too much bass. Cool that he can do that with one foot, but it doesn't sound right at all.

  • Great drumming-just don't get why you play open handed.

  • Ambidexterous (or how ever you spell that) or maybe it just the way he was taught, id love to be open handed.

  • cause open handed is the way 4ward leftys rule

  • this is a hard song to play on drums...

  • how did he achieve the speed of his bass drum foot is he using heel toe and is he playing with his heel up or down and what would you recommend?

  • why do all these kids play open handed?

is this like a cult open handed, read the music drum school?

eff needs to at least read and keep an eye on time.....

  • they make you play open handed when you learn, thats why

  • either he is late with bass pedal or is adding in way too many hits with it i know for a fact bonham doesn't play the bass drum like that in this song

  • solid man XD

    great job o.O

  • FUCKING COOL!!! I WISH I COULD DO IT!

  • yeah i no cross handed is alot better

    open handed is just silly

  • Go back to school and learn how to spell!

    "Yeah, I KNOW cross..."

  • Ever heard of Billy Cobham?....you retard

  • @007porridge No, open handed is for left handers, and in fact THAT is better. it allows more movement around the kit a lot more easily, and with the right hand on the ride, the hands will be more even in strength.

  • your awsome

  • that kid's left handed like meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

  • it gets a Tad sloppy at times but otherwise this is a great performance. and by sloppy i mean a little out of time but this is a hard song to stay in time when there are no cues for when to came back in

  • dude my name is Tad xD

  • whats with all the left handed people at this academy thing!! play cross handed!!!!!

  • Oh shut up. How ignorant can one person be? It is all about personal preference. At the time I played open handed because I felt more comfortable that way with the songs. We learn both approaches for "situations like these."

  • their playing open handed and i dont know what so good about it

  • check out carter beuford, you'll see

  • thats what i was wondering...

every video i watched of this academy was left handed.

    whats with that anyway?

  • why are people so fing rude with their comments? jealous? the guy is obviously good, i'm sure you can't do better, so either prove it, or shut up.

  • What's that with keeping that pedal against the head?

And can someone tell me why everybody thinks it is so interesting to know the age of the 'drummer'? Who cares.

  • is he looking at a tab? if he is, lame!

  • No tab! He is reading from the book "Drum Techniques of Led Zeppelin" by Joe Bergamini. Check it out. Great book.

  • Actually that book is the tab(sheet music).

  • I guess you can consider sheet music "tab". I ment that it is not tab that you download from the internet. He is reading real drum notation.

  • use your right hand for high hat its way better

  • Oh My I love this song!

  • oh alright. Thanks

  • why do all these kids on the "Drumology tv" videos play the hihat with their left hands

  • It is called "Open Handed". It is a more relaxed and balanced approach to playing. Try it. You might like it.

  • its not exactly balanced when most of the kit is to the right side, so ur left hand is limited unless there's more to your left

  • It's not about the kit being balanced, it's about your body and playing being balanced. It improves your left hand's ability. You can also move your right hand around the kit more. Trying to play the toms while playing the hi hats in a cross handed approach is difficult, but in the open handed position, it is easier. Sometimes I play Open handed. Sometimes I play cross handed. It all depends on the feeling I am trying to achieve for the song. My students learn both approaches.

  • Its good to learn both approaches, look at Dennis Chambers. That man is a damn monster and he learned both ways, it truly allows you to coordinate yourself on so many other levels. I hope your teaching your students to play more than covers though. If you wanna see my drum teacher search "Randy Gallerin" on Youtube, a 20 minute video from Gospel Chops should pop up.

  • Yes, my students learn all styles, songs, and approaches. These songs were the student's choice for the Summer Workshop. I will checkout your teacher's video. Thanks for the comment.

  • finnally something gd

  • why do you play your hi hat with your left hand? ow ell what ever works for you i guess is ok

  • ...open handed

  • Great stuff, I learned playng to Bonham. Your almost there, keep practicing.
