Nope, 4870x2 only have 750MHz Clock, 5870 have 850MHz Clock speed, and 5870 have 1.2GHz of Memory Clock, but 4870x2 have only 3600MHz of Memory Clock (Total)

2 cards do not mean they will be twice as good, plus you have to consider power usage, cabling and all the faffing around setting it up /stability, space, heat etc. if you can get a 2gb card, that will be a lot less hassle than having 2 x1gb cards -this is my understanding anyway.

i tried this with 750 watts and i had problems, upgraded to a 1010 watt psu and it has been fine. i reckon a 1kw psu is the most sensible option. btw, just love this card -i get to run everything at max settings. it is a lot cheaper now -it has come down by at least £200 here in the UK.

well you may as well try it with the 750w at first and see how you go. i think that the 750w psu i had just wasn't very good quality either so as soon as i put some load on it, the whole system shut down. i like having a bit of extra capacity so i don't have to worry about maxing everything out. this card (together with a quad core cpu and 4gb ram) will play gta4 on high settings comfortably btw. good luck with your build :)
