i am watching it now. 42 minutes so far and it feels like torture. I dont see the point of anything the cartoon is about. But I will finish it, just because I hate Hollywood and I owe it to independant/foreign movies because there are some incredibly amazing movies out there. So Hollywood, suck it!

Amazing artwork, compelling storyline, great characters.

Respectful and enjoyable to children (I hated Coraline, because I know it scares the hell out of kids younger than 10) and adults.

This movie kind of sucked...The plot was really weak, typical underestimated young boy saves teh world while still being naive. The art was unique but not great, nothing that makes this movie worth watching...weak characters, a yawn.

well i said it 'kind of' sucked, so it didn't entirely suck. jk haha i guess it didn't but i think i just had high expectations for it, and i automatically compare animated movies to the miyazaki and studio ghibli movies, not necessarily the style but the quality of the art. So i guess it didn't suck, i think i just had too high of expectations, and i felt the story was pretty weak, the whole time u generally knew what was going to happen.

I definitely agree...everybody, have the lowest expectations and then maybe it will be bearable... so borrring! story: typical boy under apprenticeship of old master, disobeys stubborn authority figure, ends up succeeding in his quest with his 'courage' and despite naivety. Just take a couple Tylenol PMs to get the same effect of this movie, definitely a better way to spend the time.

This is a gorgeous film, overwhelmingly beautiful on the big screen. If it's playing near you, you might still have a chance to see it as it is meant to be seen.

It is a very good film, but it is competing against 2 Disney films, the charming UP and the significantly inferior but at least politically correct The Princess and the Frog.
