Love the fashion HATE the song...it's a 1950 R& B for a 1920 display. I LOVE all the old vaudeville music which was fun, risque and could have been SO appropriate for this time, so sexy so good...WHY Why Why did you have to ruin it?
@ManilaSyndicate this is back in the day before photoshops, plastic surgeries, fad diet, and fake eyelashes revolutionized the way people view "beauty" in the media. ;) just keep that in mind.
@hippocampus23 Non--hand-tinted colour for motion pictures existed commercially from 1908 (well over 100 films). It was called Kinemacolour, invented in Britain. Technicolor was invented and used from 1916 in the U.S. with many films made. A Star is Born (1937, first Oscar for Technicolor film) was earlier than Wizard of Oz (1939). "With Our King and Queen Through India" was shot in colour in 1912. "The Gulf Between" was shot in Technicolor in 1917.
i think i watched ever video of glamourdaze..lol i find this so interesting to see how it was back in the early 1900s and to look at tv and see how women are dressing today..its like amazing ..back then everyone was classy and you didnt have to pay $100 to look good..
@eharas which is exactly what a lot of blessedly curvy women had to do in the 20's, there was even special brassiers that almost resembled mini corsets made to conform the female figure into a more boyish one.
Lovely video! Gorgeous dresses too! You can tell this was hand colored, each frame. If you go to 0:25 you can see that par of her pearls are the same color of her dress, and the other part not. I like the colors though, very dreamy. Now I have some inspiration!
@LapisGarter Nothing on the radio is real either. I uploaded an 8-track of Al Stewart Time Passages, whole tape...it's running a little slow because a belt stretched, but fixed after I uploaded that tape. He has a higher pitched voice anyway so the slight difference in speed is okay. The point is, it's 100% real analog. At least an upload to youtube preserves it's character. Thanks Youtube.
@bygten88 I hate to agree with you in the way that you put it, but I thought they were not very attractive also. I did not like their faces. Very pale and strange looking. Still, I like that fact that they look like real people unlike the models of today.
@LisaFreemontStreet Not any more than it is today. Take a look around. These women were not models. I go to school with girls in their 20's. I can't think of one of them who has good posture.
@celtickimba I agree. WHich is why I tend towards the 1940's and 50's way of doing things...posture and deportment, shoulders back, and a stern teacher with a ruler to keep those girls in line. ;-)
@bellyrockin Yeah, I agree. I never liked to bobbed haircuts. But that's the way things were back then. Other than that I enjoyed it. It's like a window to the past, and that was 85 years ago.
is a coloured film, really is a b/w film.
nice

Beautiful video, but for the love of god, WHY did you choose a 1950s song to go with this? The misplaced music totally ruins the spirit.

@identitykid I agree. Song's way too anachronistic, but I don't really hate the song. It just does not evoke the boyish classiness of the dresses.

WHY? Why is there 50's music on here, ruining video??

Beautiful fashions, but it would be a better video if it had a song from the same time period.

It's a shame they didn't hire attractive models, but this is an important video in that it makes the fashion images of the time come to life.
