Excactly. It is actually easy to transform any soundsource to Bose-style sound. Any solid state compressor with selectable bandwith can accuratly mimick the Bose sound. And you could use any soundsource as your main. Multiband compressors are very cheap hardware nowdays. As for a really good alternative to the sounddock I coulden´t praise the B&W Zeppelin enough. Astounding good finish and great frequency separation.True Hifi in the mid and highs. The best all-rounder.

THEN you will get good sound. OR you can just read what i wrote and buy klipsch
@aaronchungrulez THX is not a real certification , you basically pay for a label and a few minor adjustments to the device. i work in home theater so i know . THX is mostly an advertisement ploy. these sounds docks sound amazing btw

bose is not crap. very good quality for its size. You get wot you pay for. Dr. Amar Bose, an Engineering grad at MIT, thinks that sounds frm speaker are "FLAT".

I want it to be portable, preferrably battery and electric option and I don't want a separate amp and speaker setup. I want to be able to pick it up and take it to the pool, beach, outside washing my car, etc.
the bose sound dock portable is out, which is pretty much the same exact shape but with a battery which could play music for 4-5 hours unplugged. I'm trying to save up for it, costs 449 canadian dollars
What is your budget and what are your requirements? Do you want or have to have radio? Do you want it to be battery operated? Do you have size requirements? Would a separate amp & speaker setup be out of the question?

Excactly. It is actually easy to transform any soundsource to Bose-style sound. Any solid state compressor with selectable bandwith can accuratly mimick the Bose sound. i own a bose idock, and i have had amazing sound quality out of it.
i listion to rap, and for the size of the speakers and the amount of bass, lets say it sounds better then a 8 or maybe a low watt 10.
but i also have it in a duel ported box.

why klipsch...same pric much better is available eg paradigmn wharfdale infinity etc
klipsch horn compresses the sound and the mid woofers tend to excurt too much and hence cause distortion
