First time I saw this wasinthe early 80's when i was a kid. My parents were watching it in their room. I came in just at the part when the chauffer came in Bette Davis' room. Scared the bejesus out of me!! Havent had a good night sleep since. The Chauffer was played by Actor: Anthony Davis. He was one of the henchmen in "High Plains Drifter". He was also in Unforgiven. He was the bartender that got shot when he shouldve armed himself.
1970s movies were usu. PG even w/gore galore (It's Alive, Jaws) or nudity (Airplane) that would be R today. Haven't seen this movie as an adult, but it was scary when I was in 8th grade. Even today, Watcher in the Woods is quite frightening (even seeing it during the day), and it scared me more in 9th grade when I first saw it!
oh man the first time i saw this when i was a kid back in the early 2000's this scared me so bad. i couldn't even sleep. of course that happened with alot of the classics, but this one really stuck out. the laughing hearse driver still gives me chills.
Saw it at 8 then 12 then 16..it used to be on periodically on TV growing up
and would scare me in a way no film has...then I never saw it until it was released on DVD and found out the title of the film Even a better film now to see it clean DVD . Peace thanks for the rare TV trailer.
I first saw this movie when i was eight years old and was scared to death of the chaffuer. Interesting how the chaffuer became the true star of this movie
Right, the chauffeur was best. I saw the film before "In the Heat of the Night", I didn´t knew it was the same actor (Anthony James) playing there... looked so familiar :) I know the film only in german, and the boys voice there is shitty... anyway, the last scene scared the shit out of me when I was a child :)
I saw this at the South Gate Drive in(in South Gate California,of course)playing as the second feature to "Rocky" with Sylvester Stallone. Scary shit for a 7 year old. And it was a PG movie!
This looks pretty good. Someone should put this up. I love classic horror films. Karen Black is so BEAUTIFUL. I didn't know the GREAT BETTE DAVIS would choose 2 do a film like this. I have 2 find this film.
She's scary in this one, but Trilogy of Terror takes the cake when the warrior doll possesses her, and shes squatting on the kitchen floor with those fangs, grinding the knife in the floor. Right?

In my opinion, looks like the house (used) in the Amityville Horror WASN'T the ONLY house to "come alive" or "have a life of its own."

@gauchokotso
James' character was indeed the best. He gave me nightmares for a couple
years after that. Then I saw him in Naked Gun 2 and never looked at the
chauffeur the same way again. But he was a great character actor and I wish
he hadn't left showbiz back in 92.

@gauchokotso yeah, I had dreams about that last part when I was growing up.. the whole thing crumbling away. was truly surreal.

Many, many years ago I read the book before seeing the movie. I was quite disappointed in the filmed version!
I just found the movie at a local library. I'll give it another try!

This film was fantastic! It's nothing like watching a 70's horror flick. They don't make them like that any more....
