  • help i have uploaded 5 vids but they have all failed to cum on help help

  • how do you put moves like say i robot or something

  • this video is weird

  • Dude you have black around your eyes..

you need to get some sleep, stop playing on the computer so much.

    No offence..

  • Hey look you got featured again!!!!

  • Thanks for the video tutorial. Your video looks good and sharp.

I am using Canopus Let's edit and the outputs are MPEG1= .mpa, .mpv, .mpg and MPEG2 = .m2a, .m2v and .m2p. I use .m2p and it can be viewed in High Quality but i still think it is not clear. besides it takes a long time to upload. Can you give me some advice. Thanks

  • if you type &fmt=18 behind the adress url your vidoes will looks much better

  • @Haruno: The title is "So Easy" by Röyksopp.

  • Jonny, I remembered seeing this weeks ago and now that I'm actually buying a cam etc I came looking for it and it's very helpful. Thanks, love ya.

  • yepp my videos still look like shit i hate youtube

  • MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM? What? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM? What ? How About Upload VCD Format It best Quality.

  • with screen recorder u use and how u zoom in ?

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • dont use camasia studio use something else.

  • The camera recording looks awesome but why the screen capture video looks so bad? Maybe this method doesn't work well for screen captured videos?

  • I have an idea, the camera recording is probably interlaced video vs screen capture is progressive so maybe your video editing software is converting your progressive video into interlaced which tends to blur it, Studio 12 does this very ugly.

  • This gay boy thinks you're a cutie!

    Your accent sounds accent.

  • stfu racist :)

  • could you do a tutorial on high quality capturing?

  • 1000 dollaz in cash mannnney!

  • My computer can't open .flv (flash video...)

    How can i see it?

  • Try klite codec pack

  • milk!

  • whats the music in background?

  • does sony vegas 8 have .flv format?

    thanks for this tutorial!

  • i htink not,have vegas 8 too

  • yea it does

  • Thank you sir! EXCELLENT tutorial, great information for people who've been trying this, uploading now!

  • very useful.. cheers

  • youtube still processes FLV. It converts FLV to FLV. This dosent work.

  • how does it process flv into flv again!?!?!?!?

i'm sure you meant mpeg, but please, check your comments before you post them.

  • No, I meant what i said. Trust me, Its a very stupid system but thats how it works. I do video editing so take my word for it.

  • Yes, you sure are right. It changes the wrapper.

  • Well not just the wrapper. It actually processes the video and audio tracks too if you upload normal .flv.

  • Thanks great work!

  • geez, i have no i dea how you achieve almost dvd quality, i followed your steps and YT still converts the file to their coded, seems like YT parses my FLV file again. any other tricks in the hat?

  • very well produced tutorial

however... YouTube are currently still transcoding all material to H263 (Sorenson Spark) and not the newer VP6 variant so this tutorial is basically erroneous.

YOu can check this by using a youtube video downloader such as the popular Firefox add-on and then examining the file using MediaInfo.

  • Excellent TUT! Whats the name of that song in the BG?

  • I tried it out and they sure do. Your tutorial really helped me and some friends out. A while back we had been notified that YouTube would no longer be accepting .flv videos so we had been using .wmv and .mov7 formats. I came across your video and now I see that they are still going to accept them. You really helped us out, thanks bro. Good job. Really good job and good tutorial.

  • Does YouTube still accept flv video files..?

  • yea

  • thanks a lot man

  • Thanks a lot I've considered using .flv in the past because of the zero conversion factor but that fact premiere wanted me to get quicktime to do it scared me away (K-lite codec pack is all I like using). But now that you've confirmed that it would be worth it I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

  • ummm,, i have premier cs3 and well i tried the Flash format, but Youtube said "unknown file type" so what now?? i tried many different types, but the quality comes out sooo crap its not even funny. any ideas?

  • im using the same thing did u get it to work?

  • nope:( i ended up posting it on veoh

  • Did you do like JDM said and make it with mono audio and not stereo? I took a video file from a DVD camcorder, edited it in Sony Vegas and rendered it through Camtasia 5 using the settings he recommended and it worked...I rendered to flv with my audio set to mono and they accepted it.

  • You are very professional!!!!

How would you recommend to render with VEGAS 5?

  • just a quick note from a rookie mate,

You mentioned in the video that you grabbed xxxx from the DVD. Can you let me know what prog (or maybe do an informative utube vid) on how to extract bits of DVDs to AVI or mpg wmv etc from the source dVD which seems to me to be a bunch of unusable files, iso's etc. I tried Gordian Knot but I don't know which file to put in the 'input' section to get a positive outcome, and what if I only want a scene?

  • ★★★★★

  • hw did u make the stars?

  • its an alt code but i dunno wt alt code it is cuz i copy and pasted it

  • does it have to be pro 9 what else caan i use?

  • yo what program are you using again?

  • I can't wait to try this. Thanks for the awesome info.

  • Great tutorial!

  • Royksopp!

  • I cant wait to try it

  • Good job, well done mate, understood everything you said.

  • Johny! I got the formula for my videos (a year later)!!! And it DOES work as you said!!! Thank you!!! Even going against Youtube's (and the worlds) advice to use H264 encoder (?), I am getting WAY better results using FLV's and Adobe Premiere Pro 9.

    Here's the recipe:

    • Export to Adobe Media Encoder

    • Format: Adobe Flash Video

    • Video Codec: On2 VP6

    • W=640 X H= 480

    • 30FPS

    • Bitrate: Depends, I try to get every video to stay near 90-95MB's

    • Audio: 96kbps Mono (higher if needed).

  • will this method also work for veoh when uploadin videos

  • This works well on Youtube. I don't use veoh.

  • Thanks Jonny very in formative.I dont know were I stand yet because we will be useing mac and I thing finel cut.thanks again.

  • how do you convert a sony vegas editing file to wmv avi or mpeg to upload to youtube?

  • JDM thanks...

What do you think about the filters "flicker removal" and "always deinterlace"... I make my videos using MiniDV and I capture my videos in AVI format, so I use this filters and when I export to .FLV as you teach my videos do not have good quality.

    Please, help me!

PS: I am doing exactly what do you teach. I do not speak english very well.

    Thanks again.

  • Dont loose hope my friend, YouTube is just a bitch with video quality.

  • very good i'm using premire ang vegas but how look on youtube the xvid?On computer is great!

  • Really nice instructional video, thanks for the helpful technical support!

  • hi, tried using macromedia fl conersion as explained in your tutorial but when i saw end result on you tube-video is worse than all other formats i tried to get a sharp picture. What is the trick as somewhere, someone is not saying all the correct info.

  • thanks, i am just trying it out but why is stereo audio rejected?

  • Cool dude thanks!

  • thanks this works well with camtasia studio! :D :D :D :D

  • sorry, don't have the money for premiere pro, saving for a MacPro before i buy more software!

  • thanks for taking the time to share your advice !

  • p.s.

i am doing it exactly the way you described with adobe... thanks again!

  • Hey JDM525,

Great Vid it was really helpful, thanks alot!!!

I had a quick question, the videos are pretty large for 10 mins clips and dont even come close to meeting youtube's 100mb limit, how to you work around that?

    Keep up the excellent work!

  • youtube rejects windows vista, movie maker videos y ? nd ur fekin brainy pal

  • youtube rejects .flv files....i dont get it.

  • Gotta question... about stereo... according to this guy: watch?v=mAMXgl_53uE

it can be done - or have things changed since then?

  • How will this effect the fact that YouTube will convert to H.264?

  • how did you record the screen

  • Thank you so much! This is very helpful. Are there any freeware or shareware that helps to convert into flash video?

  • Would anyone truly be recording in that range of the histogram before those values were dropped?

  • I use Adobe premier elements 3 and export final video as .avi. I then use Riva encoder to convert the .avi to .flv and then upload to youtube. This seems to provide the best quality for my videos of live bands playing which are usually low light and the most challenging to achieve good quality. Riva is free by the way... From my experience, H.264, .wmv and mpeg 4 look like crap compared to the above (in low light). Show me a better way of getting good quality from low light vids!

  • what data rate do you use for your .flv files?

  • now i know why it failed when i tryd .flv :)

what was the file size for this video as well

  • Excellent explanation. Thank you so much.

  • you should consider that you're using a high definition camera according to what I saw on the preset of your adobe premier.. what if the video is originally 640x480 only converting to 320x240???

  • THIS IS ONE GREAT TUTORIAL!! made by expert ! i see how u animate...great!! thx a lot..i put it into my favorites...i just have to get a pro 2...i now have premier pro. bye and thx

  • wmv is better than mpeg4 sp (divx/xvid) but it is not better than mpeg4 asp (h.264). The best h.264 encoder is actually the free X264. I have yet to try uploading this typed of codec but I heard somewhere that all of youtube is actually converting to the H.264 standard.

  • Thats okay, if your using Vagas 5 then its a good idea to use wmv. Its a good reliable codec which works well with YouTube.

    Thanks for the comment Carl

  • Thnx Jonny for the FLV tip.

I tried it out: see my vid response. Against WMV: a little more crisp image detail but still charmfully pixelated on cam moves.

I tried FLV before but YT rejected it, and now it works perfectly.

    Great tip! 5*

  • I found this really helpful for improving the look of videos I'm uploading to YouTube. This was after I wasted $100 on Flip4Mac Studio Pro to get wmv export on a Mac based on Mr. Safety'advice. Oh, well :-) Only thing I wanted to add is that I've found it useful to push up the Flash bitrate a bit. Your tutorial left it on the default Medium Quality setting (400kbps), but I've found my videos look better with something higher in Custom, like 2000kbps. Thanks again.

  • Oh great tutorial! I thought of.flv but never had time to experiment. but now you made it clear :) Thanks

  • Hey Valdimir thanks for this comment, i'm glad it came in useful.

    Thankyou

  • I seem to have a long list of file extentions but none of them are flv:( just my luck, however I did follow the advice of smpfilms saving in WMM @ 512 and while I never saw quality difference the file size was much smaller and upload much quicker as a result, I went out and got Sony Vegas which has made a big difference but I takes an age to make a video now, you cant have your cake and eat it.

  • in your video you said wmv is technically better than mpeg... but do you know "On2 VP6" is a MPEG standard??

  • Thats incorrect. VP6 and MPEG are two different video technologies

mpeg video is a generic codec developed by the motion picture experts group in 1988 as a universal standard.

'VP6' is a codec developed by 'On2 Technologies' (formerly The Duck Corporation) and commissioned by Macromedia in 2004.

  • Great tutorial, I was getting confused with the 30/25 fps & I thought it had to do with NTSC/PAL settings (I'm UK too) I was about to change my export option in MovieMaker to NTSC to try & get the 30fps, not worth doing? Also is there a stand alone converter progam that changes WMV to FLV? thanx again ;)

  • A stupid question, just don't understand, if youtube will eventually change our video to 320x240 and flash video format... ? Why if we convert the vids by ourself, will lead to higher quality video? I know it will achieve higher uploading speed..but why better quality?

  • Thats a good question you pointed out and it made me think.

The simplest answer I have is that the 'On2 VP6' video codec used in flash vids maintain a more accurate picture quality compared to mainstreem formats like mpeg and wmv.

Everyone wants their uploaded vids to look good and YouTube will always compress those videos to save memory space; so using a good video format you can achieve better results.

    Thanks again for your message.

    Jonny

  • That little trick with the mono audio is awesome... thanks for the help.

  • kool....i was about to make this tutorial...i was like mrsafety has it wrong...that's not the best video format... also when you do it in flash, it will be ready in seconds

  • True, I forgot to mention that; flash vids are much quicker to go live on tube.

  • Hey, thanks for the comment. I would actually like to be an actor; i'm thinking of trying some drama short films sometime.
