I've been trying to mix on the adobe audition (actually in a tons of programs) but I just can't find a way to mix the songs, I've been thinking about a Foo Fighters Tribute, so the bpm's are quite the same, the keys as well... @Oli4drums as you can see the top of the hi hat doesn't move so if you screw it down really tight and hit like cobus which is unreal hard, it will get cracked

@BrightenHite I have my clutch screwed on to my top hat as tight as it will go, I hit bloody hard, I play metal predominantly, i've had my hi hats for about 3 years and they're Zildjian ZHT (A fairly low class cymbal line). No signs of cracks at all.

@manjenson Incorrect answer. If you crack a cymbal, you need to re-evaluate your hitting technique. It's a shame so many drummers that are idols to whole new generations of drummers don't teach or show correct technique.

@Oli4drums Nah, shit just happens. Depends on the make of the cymbal and the usage. I've had Sabian B8 cymbals for 3 and a half years now, they've never broken on me, cracked, scratched, nothing. Just smudging from when I mute it. Yet, I had one low-end Zildjian ZBT cymbal, and it broke on me after a couple months, plus a Wuhan China [which I still use] that has a crack in it. I don't think it has to do with his hitting technique at all.

@manjenson A lot of low-end cymbals will break fairly easily, but generally not hats. If people are breaking K-Customs or AAXs then they should re-evaluate their cymbal hitting technique. Granted, some people (Gene Hoglan being one of them) hit extra extra hard and cymbals won't be able to hold up to that constant abuse. I used to have a Wuhan and it was destroyed in a few months. My technique was not great back then but Wuhans are made so quickly that they can last you 4 years or a few hits.
